Having worked for a well known and respected carpet cleaning supplier for quite some time now on a part time basis, I have decided to accept full time employment.
Therefore, I am hanging up my wand, and getting the spanners back out..... ;D

Bad timing mate.... All those CIU for sale ads will cost a fortune. ;D

Rather a pathetic and childish thing to say, so I have put up a suitable picture just for you Darren

I think you have made a smart move Colin... best of luck !

Well done Colin, wishing you all the best.

All this time that Colin has been slagging of the Airflex and raving about the Jaguar he"s been employed by Solutions Uk just sums the company up realy.
-
You do realise when they said you'd be working on Jaguars they didn't mean these?

What a sour and pathetic individual you come over as.... I truly hope that you are not this bitter in real life....

Good luck Colin ... :)
Wonder how much you can say here now ...
Test - The Jag ... Its pretty much two buckets nailed to an old fishbox :-X

;D ;D ;D

I do genuinely wish Colin all the best in his new role and have said the same on facebook.
However, it is fair to say that Colin has been disparaging about the Airflex in the past on many occasions.
Darren O's comments may have come across as harsh, but in hindsight Colin's comments can be seen at the very least as disingenuous.
At the time I simply put it down to being a Solutions fan boy which we have ribbed him about - it now turns out he held a part time position at Solutions.
If you're reading this Colin, again all the best, but I would be very grateful that Matt Flewitt doesn't seem to be litigious by nature.

Some of the posts Colin made recentley about the 6.6vacs i thought there was somebody else behind it

Have a good life.

Thank you Robert....
After some very sound advice from other c/c's, family and friends, I will remain a carpet cleaner for evenings and at the weekends too.
I will still frequent this forum on the full understanding that I will NOT promote products in any way, shape or form.
There are far far too many good people on here, I'm going nowhere.... :)

Obviously not an overnight decision but why the change? you mentioned earlier in the thread that your business was" going down the pan", why was that? I only ask because although everyones experiences are different there could be a valuable lesson you could share with someone, of course it could be that you just didnt want to carpet/oven clean full time any more and was offered a good opportunity and took it.
Any way good luck.

It's a long and boring story and not one I'd share on here, now I know that certain members cannot be trusted not to throw it all in my face at a later date...
I'd be happy to discuss over the phone or in an email.... :)
Thank you....

Good luck Colin, all the best mate, il keep up with you on facebook.

Good luck to you Colin, sincere best wishes for the future.

All the best Colin, a bit of the best of both worlds in a way.
Not only do you get a guarenteed wage, paid holidays, weekends off, evenings off, pension rights and all the rest that comes with being empolyed, you can also boost your income by doing a bit of carpet cleaning when you feel like it.....if you feel like it.
-
Good luck Colin, hope it works out for you. Same as Neil - and dont forget there will be the no stress - as is attached with running your own business anymore. We'd all love that lol!
Cheers

no sting in the tail here billy he does'nt get the jag he gets to upgrade to a scorpion and its very economical as it runs on m power and cold water very green.
just thought of something the scorpion with m power and cold water probably wont work (think thats why they changed to the jag and the zeta hot water unit)
better stick with the jag at least that is a work in progress , may even be as good as the airflex one da ;Dy.

I am NOT OFFICIALLY working for for the cleaning supplier as yet.
I have helped Nick in the past to return the favours he done for me when my business was going down the pan, no money has ever exchanged hands. That's what mates do... (I'll explain what a mate is some other time Darran O ;))
He explained to me a week ago that he needed someone to help out and advised that I stopped recommending or even mentioning his products on CIU, as we were drawing up a plan for me to work there.
I really appreciate the support the majority of you have wrote. As I find John Martin (or Reginald Kenneth Dwight or whatever he likes to call himself) and Darran O insignificant, their comments are just funny in a pathetic sort of a way.
I am shocked.... no, disappointed that someone I've looked up to since joining CIU has tried to stir the proverbial, he is even a friend on FB... :o (Well not any longer)
going down the pan..... just so you remember how you described it

You really haven't got a clue what's happening in my life. Go try and bully someone else, fatty!
And learn to read, I said my business WAS going down the pan, after about 18 months in, that's when Nick helped me out....
Your attention to detail is bewildering at best, Bully Boy!!!!

True colours coming out now I see sad really. You should look in the mirror before judging others. Most of the constructive things you have said have been about a company you now work for double standards or what JEEEEEZ

if you want to know how good any business is you can get a copy of their accounts for a small fee , or you could do a credit check on them. all this information is available to you if you are worried about a company you are doing business with.

That's only limited companies.

Your point being? does a businesses financial situation reflect on whether its products are good or bad, er no, sadly a business can get into financial problems for all sorts of reasons. I have brought products from a number of suppliers including Solutions and I an very happy with their products. For the record I have a Airflex Storm but that was a personal decision and I dare say I would have been equally happy with the Jaguar, I had the Scorpion before my latest machine and it was a great machine. I really cant understand all the bitching and backstabbing on this forum. I think the fact of the matter is that we have two fantastic machines and it is down to personal choice which you go for.

Am I missing something here, if Colin had a thriving business he obviously wouldn't be giving it up but why start sticking the boot in, of course he's going to be a bit touchy, and I'm sure you would too if it happened to you.

So what is a Business then??
every business has to start somewhere...
At the start of a business everyone here has been " A Geezer cleaning a few carpets here and there"
-
For what ever reason you are moving on Colin good luck... the sad fact here is that we are all in the same boat here, we are all struggling and the UK is becoming a harder place to survive if you have a business.

Ebay seems to have a different van including truckmount listed every week... many established carpet cleaners selling up and moving on by the looks of things...

There are a couple of low hour machines on ebay probably they are not established.
There are also some machines that are probably 2-3rd hand and fallen into the hands of someone loking to make a fast easy buck.
Personally our work is still on the up, more of our customers are having carpets cleaned rather than replacing, it may be different in other areas.

I have read all the comments on here about Colin , and all i can say is that all the comments that are nasty are from people that dont know Colin at all.
we both run cc business in a small town in the south west , when i had one off the worst years that anyone would not wish on there worst enemy , Colin was there for me, i lost my job, my wife. and my license all in a couple off months .
Colin drove me to jobs , fixed my machine for free , gave me free detergents to get me through hard times.
he took me out and spent time listening to my whinging never, once complaining , took me out on jobs with him, and just generally supported me through hard times , if any of you ever end up with a mate like him then you are very lucky.
not once did Colin ever say buy from this seller or that one, all he ever did was be a good friend, .
If I never told you before Colin thanks mate , you were there when others weren't you made a difference .when ever your in Yorkshire call round i owe you a pint ( could you make it between 5pm and 7pm as its happy hour) thats what Shaun tells me Neil
-
i'm asking myself the question why did he leave ?
-
Yeah he has also helped me out.
My truck mount had broken down, I had never even met colin and he rang me up to say that he was going back to cumbria for a week and i could borrow his machine if i wanted, he also let me use his van as mine was obviously tied up at hydramaster with the tm. not many would do that.
Cheers Colin
-
Creighton that was not called for.
Neil has written why he lost his licence in previous threads, and quite frankly, in the same circumstances I think you would have done the same thing, as would just about everyone on here....
So before the holier than thou speech you should check out facts.....
-
For one I do not know Colin personally and have never posted anything rude or offensive towards him all my posts are still on the forum to be read by one and all. On the other hand Colin has been rude towards me and then after my response deleted or edited his own post so you do not get a true picture of what he has posted.
I for one do not doubt he has been a very good friend to Neil and many others and they would defend him whatever.
Hector I have read why Neil lost his licence and although it seems a very sad set of circumstances that lead to him loosing it we cannot condone drink driving for anyone.
Cheers Tony
-
hector your right it was harsh so i removed it
-
it seems a very sad set of circumstances that lead to him loosing it we cannot condone drink driving for anyone.
So if your wife was in the situation Neils was.....
You would just have had another drink and said "oh well" would you ??
-
hector your right it was harsh so i removed it
Thanks mate
;D
-
You're all laughing now, but when they put Colin in charge of the SPM watering down process...... ;D
-
Tony
you really dont have a clue mate , you need in the first instance be fully aware of the circumstances .
As the law stands i was fully within the law to drive , but as we all know fighting the judicial system costs money and time both of which i didn't have .
As for Colin you wound him up at a time that he wasnt able to see the funny side , and you took advantage of this to put him down .
I ,m sure at any other time colin would of laughed it off .
you both need to laugh it off and move on fatty ;D

Lot of people on this forum showing their true colours... very disappointing reading some of these posts!
When i mentioned that "we were all in the same boat" i meant we are all in the same business... Unfortunately some people are less fortunate to be in that boat with Mike drinking Stella and eating pizza as business is tough at the moment.
What ever happened to SOLIDARITY ? :'(

However I know exactly what you mean...
So a certain moderator's business is flurishing at the moment, I will wager that there are more people struggling a little bit than will admit it on here.
Fuel is high, wages are not so high, something has to give eventually, and so people are now getting the carpets cleaned instead of buying new ones, some people have stopped that as well.
I am very slow on the carpet cleaning front, however that is my choice, but others have no choice in the matter, and no matter how you look at it..
You should not amuse yourself at others less fortunate than yourself.... escpecially if you are a moderator.
Rant over
ban accepted

I was looking out the window a while ago and saw two male pheasants having a cock fight - plenty of flapping and ego strutting but that's about it. Reminded me I hadn't logged in to CIU today. ;D

Creighton,
I've spent a lot of time in Morriston, and stayed with a friend on constitution hill quite a few times - but I can't say much cos I'm in the valleys ;)
