Title: Shocking Business Banking Charges
Post by: Simon@ Clearview contractors on March 07, 2012, 04:56:20 pm
Hi all, I've been on free Business Banking for the last 18 months and have just got home to see my monthly statement from LLoyds TSB and am gobsmacked at the charges...

£69-odd for the firking month OMG :o :o :o

Now who knows of a decent account to go to cos there's no way I'm paying that each month!

I bank with Natwest.

I have an advantage gold business account, they charge me a flat fee every month of £28.

Plus I get free mobile phone insurance, travel insurance, green flag cover and some other bits and bobs.

Worth a look.  ;)

I get one of them charges but mine is £100 a year, every time I moan about it after they take the money.

Welcome to the world of banks screwing you, get on a internet tariff and get people to pay via standing order and bill payments to lower your fees.

They hate me in the bank when I bank cheques I save them up for when they are busy, they ask me to leave it with them I say I pay for each cheque to go in so I want to watch where my money goes. This is normally a friday 5 to 5 wind down for me :)

I am also with Natwest and when my free period was coming to an end, I went and saw my 'Business Manager' and told him I wouldn't be able to afford the monthly charges. He promptly made an appointment for me to open a personal account for my business.

I'm with the Co-op. I pay in maybe 25+ cheques a week. Never been charged a penny.

Previously, I was with Lloyds......

The good thing about the Co-op is you can pay money in at any post office.

you rust the post office with your bank roll, bugger that, run a business get a business account simple, worry about what make you money instead of spending time trying to save you a little as it is backward thinking imo

Rubbish - Its an option which you can choose, makes it a more flexible business account (you can send cheques via mail, use bank or nominated post office) plus its free if you join FSB. Plus THEY PAY YOU a loyalty fee of £25 a year.. Whats the difference to 'rust'   ;D a post office then to 'trust' a bank ??? ???

a barclays honcho rang me up tother day, told me itd be 30 p a cheque to pay in if i set up a biz account with them, i told him i run mine thru personal accounts at a building society  and he recommended i carry on doing that ,told me its the way to go and very common
he was in Sunderland and makes about 20 calls a day ,likes hearing about people and had an amusing tale about a bouncy castle biz that raked in a lot of money without paying bank charges .also he told me that barclays turn a blind eye if you open a personal account and pay cheques in but then transfer your money into a biz account (also with them)

on a side note ,my halifax account ,i can pay in as many cheques as i want in the halifax post it envelopes that you post thru a slot just inside the door. it says on the envelopes no limit on amount of cheques

got to disagree with you bud, i was with Lloyds for 6 months (free trial period) they promised that they would look at my charges and work out something better for me, well at the end of the 6 months i tried it for the 7 month and got a bill for £67.

At that time in my business running a ac though lloyds would cost me lamost £1000 a year, now it would be over £2000.

When I phoned my personal manager who made the promise, he just said its not going down, so bye bye.

The alliance and leicester now santander ac is the same as the lloyds one, except I now have £2000 a year more in my account than I would have.

I've banked with A&L for years and never had any problem, now it's Santander and the customer service is absolutely rubbish, difficult to contact, ages to sort out complaints. I use a personal account and pay any business cheques into that account, no charges.
#Don't bank with Santander, I'm looking to change, probably to Coop.
