Just got home to find a letter from a customer saying..."just to let you know I will be using another window cleaner in the future"
Bloody cheek! :o I have been doing this job 5+ years underpriced semi victorian house @ £8 4 wkly put up to £9 last month (she is not skint btw)
I had to get the key to her gate off a neighbour unlock do the job, lock and return the key! always thought too much hassle, anyway I have'nt had much contact with this woman hence the key situation
but when i have i have always found her to be rude & def didnt like parting with money. anyway she was in last week do job as normal knock for money, she moans about the £1 price rise in 5+ years! :o and then as im driving off i see her outside with a tea towell drying off her bay window! she knows about wfp i wonder if she ruined the windows? certainly hope so.
I reckon ske is in for a shock as I would price it at £12 now. anyway never liked her so that days work will be a bit better now. ;D

probably got canvassed by a real cleaner charging 3.50 a go :-)
-
they say customers tend to follow pareto's law - 20% of them give you 80% of the hassle. Even though it can be counter-intuitive to get rid of customers, sometimes it can be the best thing to do - it frees up time for you to get customers on board who will pay what the work is worth without complaining!

I lost one today that was on the list to dump!
Nice people but a minefield of dog turd sometimes , anyway way I finished the clean today and he says he's lost his job so has to cut back.
Picked another one up a couple of houses after so happy days ;D

Just to clarify, Pareto's law does not state :"20% of customers give you 80% of the hassle" lol, I dont think Window cleaning was what he had in mind when he coined the 80/20 law.
-
so what does pareto state then?

what roads the messer on? just so i dont get her !

Pareto stated that (at the time, in Italy) 80% of the wealth was owned by 20% of the population. But 'Pareto's Law' is quoted as the 80/20 can be applied to all manner of things.
And here endeth todays lesson.

ah ok, very interesting but yeah, doesnt really relate at all to what percentage of people cause you problems. i wonder if there have been any philosophers who worked as a window cleaner?! i know van morrison wrote a few songs about window cleaning but thats not quite the same haha
-
80% of what i earn is for other people; i get to keep the other 20% :'( :'(
-

SHE IS IN WOODBRIDGE BOBBY
-
ah i see .im safe as i dont go there
im thinking there should be a messers list on the forum ,of adresses to avoid, a BIBLE reference to print off and keep in the van,

80% of the posts on this forum are BS.with 20% who know what they are talking about!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

see that 80/20 rule, I get it, it applies to most most things, I read or watched it years ago, it is good to keep in the back of your mind, that is why I think 80% of the pish posted on here is exactly that, because only 20% will be doing it right ;D
if i follow the correct 20% i will be doing ok, but that takes some doing
and I also need to apply it to PIA customers because I can see how that works as well
sorry just seen your post daz ;D
-
its also generally thought that in a B2B environment you get 80% of your income from 20% of your customer. Not sure if it would really work in a B2C environment though?
