Who admits to being knackered after having to wind their hose back in?
Is it really that hard?
-
its a bit of a drag excuse the pun. bit knackered by the end of the day
-
No but if someone wants to make their life just that little bit easier then its up to them....
-
What you guys winding in then?
Our 100m microbore on a clauber reel is so easy, when you get going the momentum almost does it for you!
Isn't having drills or motors just adding to the things that can go wrong! Time spent fixing or maintaining such over egginereed solutions, surely isn't worth it, especially when some guys value an extra 12 mins at home so much!
-
There is an arguement for both sides but this is a very clear case of each to their own....
-

Nope. But using an electric reel is easier and saves time.
You seem to feel that having more time and using less energy are bad things. Which makes you an idiot, bluntly.

-
How much tme do you really save, don't say 30 seconds a house cos it don't even take that long to reel the hose in so how can it save that!
You'll be lucky if it saves you 5 seconds if that, 5x30 houses saves you 2.5 mins on winding, look at the time to build this and making sure you've got charged batteries.......your 2.5 mins don't go far!
Is everybody rushing out to buy drills now to make an electric reel......no!
Who's the idiot now?
-
Perfect windows if you saw the outfit easy clean has also the car the flash git drives you will see he is far from an idiot. hat off to the bloke. also i agree with him it isnt exactly hard or time consuming unless your round is crap and non compact it takes less than30 seconds to wind in.

Thanks mick, it sounds so much nicer when someone compliments you on your set up and business structure.
The cars not that great now, if honest a lot of hassle but that's the joys of Italian super cars!
How you been, how's work?

Wow, you're absolutely right. What an idiot I must be if someone thinks you're ace and that you drive a good car!
-
No the truth of the matter is you've spoke a load of crap about this stupid electric reel!
-
Doesn't bother me lifting the reel in and out the van or winding it back in keeps me fit ;D

Just a warning, you'll be 48 in about 6 months. Run, quickly, before the 13 years vanishes!

I didn't realise how knackering it was until I stopped just before Christmas. I'd never go back now.
Don't worry, I know I'm wrong, so just carry on as you are.

Come on guys if easy clean has the ability to make things easy for him self why not. This job is so boring at times one needs the challenging to make it interesting.
-
I'm a bit of a car fanatic - any chance of seeing this Italian supercar???????
Rich
-
Dave Morris is good at wrapping up HP hose...aren't you Dave? ;D
-
If you've got 100m of hose out then take the end of the hose with you back to the van, this means you are in effect pulling on 50m of hose instead of 100m.
-
I would love to see the car too, I am a petrolhead too...

lol I know wat you mean I do it too but you still need to wind the full 100m back on ;D

....... my biggest decision every day is whether I can be bothered to take the ferrari out or not! And believe it or not 9 times out of 10 it stays at home, but I've had it for 2 1/2 years now anyway so novelty has slightly worn off!!!!!
1 thing I will say is even tho window cleaning gave me a ferrari at just passed 30 and lots of time off work and lkovely holidays, I still feel ashamed to say we clean windows
Don't know excactly how many but do know I do enough to keep the Ferrari running!!!!!
Stick to your fords, I run a connect 60 reg, a fiesta van 55 reg and an 11 reg transit......the Ferrari is second choice to the transit everytime as its so much nicer to drive!
As I said elsewhere, I do wonder if he's compensating for a lack of... well, you know...
-
Blastaway , morris aint even in the same league , he has a porsche , he once parked it outside my house , so that does make him a brave man !
Rich

I lift two of them in and out; 'cos I'm a gent; and Wor Lass is knocking and collecting. ;D

most of us have the lighter poles(slx, clxs)light brushes, microbore hose,no climbing up to every upper window on a ladder to clean it,lightweight reels.how easy does this job get compared to trad? ;D ;D ;D ;D
i have no problems winding a bit of hose in a few times a day.i must admit with a lot of compact work i dont need to reel in more than 3 times a day most days.sometimes more depending on work.
im 40 and keep myself reasonably fit.could do with losing a few more pounds but i will as the xmas pounds are nearly off now!
those who want to mess about with drills then its their business.its not for me as i keep my system as simple as possible and i work speedy and efficiently most days and im well organized. ;) ;D ;D
-
just leave reel in the van, no lifting in and out, and easier to reel
-
P&F just read your post and cant tell if its a good ferrari or not from that post lol...

No probs,, you have done well mate. you gave me top advice when i wanted to start with wfp when we met up in Crayford retail park about going straight for vanmount etc, been building another round up heavy the last 4 months and just started to make a profit from it so things looking up..ill catch your empire up soon. will have to hook up soon,,you can give me some advice about a few things.

Aww, why don't ya get a room guys?

Case closed just cause you and Mick say so even though you have never used one. It wouldn't be so simple if I was driving off down the road while you were still reeling in. Fact is I like it, I think it makes my day easier and a little faster. What you and your sidekick think is really of no relevance as you don't know your arse from your elbow in this matter.
I bet there was a guy like you about when the weel was invented -
Narr, it'll never work. I'm happy with my Italian donkey don't ya know. Why bother, it's easier to carry everything.

I would like an electric reel personally.
For me its the extra strain i am putting on my left arm each job. Say you wind in on average 10 times per day, 4 days per week, 45 weeks per year
Thats 1800 times a year you are reeling in per year.
Over a 10 year period, thats 180,000 times you reel in which in my opinion has got to put some strain on your reeling in arm you have to admit.
Although thinking about it, its not just the reeling in that will put a strain on your body, but where the reel is.
If its on the floor you bend down
If its in the van you lean in (i know i do)
Personally im keeping my eye on the electric reel threads. I find them interesting and save the details. My next van (which i hope to get this year) will be perfectly set up for me !
The plan is to have a frame in the back to not only fix the tank down, but to hold everything else in so it is secure but easily removable. I plan to fix an electric reel of some sort on a frame that slides out of the van at the perfect height for me to not have to bend / twist / lean and that can me changed over to a manual handle should it need to be.
For those of you that think an electric reel is a stupid idea i ask you this (which may not apply to all, but will some)
Why go from trad to wfp ? why buy the lightest equipment you can ?
Im pretty sure your answer to that one will be for you health / safety / ease the strain of equipment.
I know bid you goodnight
-
didn't like Ferraris, I couldn't get comfortable in it. ill stick with me little old DB 9 I think..... ;D 8)
I do like the idea of electric reel, definitely has its pros. but if it's not for you, so be it. keeps the blood pumping reeling in by hand anyway!
-
I don't like ferraris either.
I may have a look at knocking up an electric hose reel in the spring when I re fit the van.
-
seen it , seen it , na,na,naaaaa , na,na , naaaaaaaaaa ;D

I'll bung on a pic of my current bodge setup for what it's worth, but first I have to watch Southampton beat Leicester tonight...

you rode an electric eel? ???
-
LLAAWW did you or the mods remove your Ferrari picture/clip?
oh I did, you can have it back if you like.
I decided that it wasn't all that representative of my generally passive ways, though I did feel it gave an account of my feelings for petrol heads.
-
electric reels make sense -if I could be bothered doing anything about it!!

Sums it up so nicely!! one day when our arms are knackered, we will maybe wish we had, lol.
I will get around to it, one day.....

I WILL CRUSH IT TO THE RECYCLE BIN OTHERWISE !
Rich
-
as for the electric reel i would like one when someone makes a reasonably priced pro production, but would feel a bit gyppo with a drill. just my opinion.
