I bought an L5 heater last November and can honestly say that I didnt lose a single day to the frost, so in my opinion, go for it.

When using the L5 does it go in before going through the resin or after, and if before does the hot water shorten the working length of the resin??

At the moment we have water tank to pump to DI cannisters to hosereel so where in that lot would the heater go????

Sorry if that sounds a bit thick, I'm from Devon ;)

The heater should be the last thing before the hose reel. If you have DI after the heater you'll be waiting about 15 minutes for the first bit of hot water as it'll have to fill your DI and 100mtrs of hose before it gets hot at the brush!

Any links or videos of this Fogwash system.
I'm concerned about how I need to vent gasses. I don't want to be cutting my caddy van!!!

Quote from the m5 crash
Quote
Several propane gas cylinders are thought to have exploded during the crash causing two fireballs to engulf part of the crash site. The intensity of the flames also melted away tarmac on the road.

Gives us something to think about  :o

Immersion works well - insulate your tank and it stays warmer much longer.

What do insulate the tank with? I'm guessing that standard foil backed stuff on a roll??

i am going to use the hard board with foil backing,  but might paint it first to keep heat in,

Sounds a bit daft but you reckon it's worth doing the roof as well ? After all, heat rises

with the greatest respect to all alternetive  hot water systems,  i have a heat wave with a built in frost stat  ,i know they are alot more expensive than cheaper versions (lp5 heaters)  but the heat wave is alot less hassle, plumbed in to your fuel tank (no dangerous gas bottles) ext exhaust system comes from underneath the van (small tube) .all i do is take poles out then put frost stat on at night (no heaters ,boarding, insulation etc etc. JOB DONE .Some people just dont like the heatwave the only reason i can think of is that they wont pay the money £2300 it costs .money well spent in my opinon ,i have had mine 3 year now paid for itself over and over.

You can use any building insulation - I use Celotex 50mm only on my trailer system and and polystyrene and loft insulation on my van system behind plywood.

Do you have it serviced each year? How much does this cost and it is easy to find somewhere local to have it done?

dd ,you can look after it your self very basic ,i have 2 cleaning supplies near me fortunatley one of those are the people that invented the heat wave so there is nothing they dont know about it .very helpful even over the phone.

These systems that plumb into your own fuel supply-would it not be more cost effective to have a small tank put in so that you can run them on red diesel..?

Not quite sure how a hot system pays for itself over and over again  ???

I have a fogwash - haven't needed to use it much this year. It hasn't earned me any money at all. It might allow me to work in colder temperatures for the couple of really bad weeks we sometimes get. Won't help me to drive on the ice unfortunately or through a foot of snow. I see it as a luxury - not a necessity.

If you run your system on red diesel any warranty will be null and void

Why does it void the warranty, same product just cheaper..?

Because the red diesel can come out of any OLD tank and have some 'foreign bodies' in it
