my mate has a window run of about six grand a month and his wife wants half of it what is it value anybody know as he is panicing big style
-
Tell her he give it away.
-
Tell her she can have it and suggest a good place to buy ladders. Nothng stopping your mate canvassing the work a week or so later.
-
i would give her half of the business the crap half that is the bad payers and the customer that mess him around ect ;D ;D ;D
-
tell him to "sell"it to a close friend/relative for a penny , and that should throw her off :)
-
Split the round up into customers, give her a list and tell her to naff off.
Go back round six months later.
-
tell him to go to a solicitor, as depending on how long he been married and how long been a window cleaner, she coudl get a fortune, as all she has to prove is with out her he wouldnt of been able to have a successful business, and there for is entitled to some of it, and if he is limited and she is a director, he might have to pay her off

thats what happened to my brother, it was going to put my bro and dad out of work to raise the money, in the end she got 100% of the house as a trade off, but theirs was all contracted work, domestic is mainly good will so would harder to value.
heard lots of storys of guys selling stuff of really cheap to mates and buying it back later, don't know how true that is though

tell her to *******
-
has he a document saying she is or was a partner ,
been in same situation , but i had a document that disolved the partnership.
i lost house , new car ,kept a bag of clothes and buisness .
if he doesnt have a legallised document saying she isnt a partner , hes in trouble ,
she can claim half of his buisness , all what solicitors tell you doesnt always happen , as in my case i had to pay for legal help , a woman on her own with kids usually gets full legal aid .
on the positive if she did get half his buisness all she could do was sell it,or clean it herself. and chances are his customers will not wont some new bloke .especially if he explains to his customers whats happening.
i hope it works out ok .

Aaah, someone with some legal nous. Talking like that, might be the reason they are getting divorced ;D.
My uncle lost half of his business to my auntie, when they divorced.
-
wifes talking like that to me;but my legal says i am the buisness
and shes not had owt to do with it so cant claim
but lifes a bitch isnt it last time i get a divorce ;)
-
If it is an equal business with man and wife then a two way split could be an option.
Draw a line in the area, and one person gets x customers and the other gets the other.

Could be worth £18-£60k ,more or less however i dont see how anyone can force you to give out names and addresses of customers that you have been cleaning.
if however she had a role with him it would be fair but she demanding half the round value only based on what it could be worth i dont think they can enforce that cos its goodwill, if he had a shop like chip shop or something thats different,
i cant see solicitor valuing the goodwill of half his customers and forcing himto pay x or hand over half the round.
-
The most likely route she could go down is legally enforce him to compensate her 50% of the rounds worth.

It's like anything else - it all gets put in the pot divided up and split as per the court settlement. The only thing to consider is what it's value is.
Generally:-
Lets say its a geezer and a wife and young kids.
House and contents:- Wife and kids live in it - geezer has to find a gaff
Car:- Wife needs it for taking little darlings to school
Van:- Geezer
Mens Clothes:- Geezer (Tosh might claim a pair of frillies from Wor Lass)
Business:- Geezer has to have enough to support himself, wife needs to be able to support herself, lover, kids. Geezer gets shafted.
To save hassle - put down a deposit for rental on a small gaff, draw out a grand in cash - savings, loan whatever drive away in your van to wife's solicitor - sign everything over to her; set up a new bank account, go to work collect cash, buy a curry go home, set up for the next day, microwave and eat curry, watch telly, whinge on here, go to work next day, repeat ad infinitum.
In about two years your head will clear.

and from a female perspective..........
Just hate it when it isn't an equal and I mean equal split.
Some of these women just want it all and it's not on! (i'm not joking when I say this either)
a 50% split should be a 50% split if that is what the legals say.....but invariably it isn't.
Most women work , but do they want to put that into the pot.....no they don't......makes me so mad.

Just the way I am, and it gets to me when these so called modern women, suddenly turn into fragile beings who couldn't possible fend for themselves >:( Have they no pride
Most of all the legal eagles seem to fall for it aswell ???
I have never come across a female that hasn't doesn't well out of a divorce and doesn't boast about it afterwards. >:(

I've just told my missus that she'd be entitled to half my round if we split up.
That will stop her from straying :D.

This is a great question. It would be valued on its 'profitability'. As any business should be.
-
I like you Helen! cos Why on earth would the woman need geezer money why cant she support herself! like the man would be.
the geezer would need to support himself aint we all human?
all cars, the house money etc should be splt but if the dude made his round alone with no involvement of his x wife honestly she should get sweet bugger all of it or any income of it , i dont know any man who wanted to claim something from his x wifes earnings why do some women do this its crazy.!
-
Because they have the sprogs which can hinder their career prospects.
-
it needs a minister with balls to sort out the divorce mess of Britain- bring back the birch while hes at it too .
A good idea often toted is to bring back the stocks on every market square in the country , for use on Saturday mornings, and its a pound to watch or a fiver to throw the rotten fruit .
divorces could be settled by jousting contests held at the far side of the market square .
-
if you wife warns more than you or you get the kids, you can claim money off the wife
