Hi,
Am traditional so used the next best to WFP.
This was today an inside & out 2 monthly job in Richmond Surrey. It was very cold but not slippery. My son Scott foots the ladder..

nice job - scott needs to put on some weight as hes so thin i cant see him in the photo ;D ;)
do you do the 3rd storey as well ?

Firstly I think you need to give scott a slap. When you weren't looking he nipped off taking pictures while his poor old man slaved away up an unfooted ladder.......... :D :D
seriously though, the dorma windows look clean, how do you get the one on the side...?

Yes but from inside.

why not put the ladder a bit higher and then you wouldnt need the pole ???
-
using a pole of a ladder isnt the way to go, if you had the ladder extended 2 more rungs then you would of reached easily without the pole and been a lot easier and safer, also if the ladder isnt footed you need to get an anti slip device a firm called grippa tank do an excellent one for £40 + vat doing it the way you are it is only a matter of tine before you will have a serious fall
-
cool!

Did not want the doors to cave in, ladder was on railings
-
I do like that small pointer, how much was that...

We had allready cleaned the window with Scott footing it. This was posed with me very still.
-
hi windolene if you stood on top the of railings you could reach the tops and discard your pole.
bumper ;)

£50.00 Second hand, its a ramsey keep an eye on ebay. Type in window ladder.

it doesnt matter how still you are a ladder can still slip, looking at the floor conditions i doubt it would of but if the flags had been wet then it could definately of gone.

Thought about getting one instead of my single pointer...

Then you could have put the ladder on the outer edges of the doors and done them one at a time surely? Less messing about than a pole on a ladder.

I have fond memories of Richmond. Me and the girlfriend met up with some friends there for a liquid lunch, Afterward me and the girlfriend went for a walk in Richmond park (or is it common?). Had a quickie in the middle of the afternoon in lovely sunshine on the park. It is a lovely place, You would not think you are in the poope hole that is London :P
-
firstly that ladder extends yes ????
well extend it then
use it off the sides
then clean side and 1 door each move
simples ;)
while you were messing about
taking pics ida clean nxt door!!!!
that house is a perfect example
of an house cying out for wfp ;D ;D ;D

To be perfectly honest you need ladder training, make no mistake what you are doing is totally unsafe.
Contact David or Andy at Impact43 and do yourself a favour, get trained as that ladder will go higher and make the job easier.
Would you mind If I copy the picture and send it to the H&S and seek their advice as to what they think?
This is the type of action that gives window cleaners a bad name.
Shame on you >:(
I do like the quality of the picture though and I might get a rogue trader section on my website and add you to it
And please, please, please tell me you don't really use windowlene ::)
-
You could always invest in a Rojack and give poor old Scott the sack ;D
-
There is absolutely nothing dangerous in what you are doing as far as I can see mate. Those who say place the ladder on the side of the doors....open your eyes will you. The door frame profile is curved and recessed because it is part of the bay framework. Putting the ladder on this would be impossible. The ladder may have been extended to make it easier but using the pole lower down is in no way dangerous. Ladder is set at the correct angle and the ground is dry. What is the problem with some of you bampots at times. Rhino humper are you on drugs or what?
-
i personally would not use a trad pole from half way up a ladder its just not safe!! ::) ::).
likes been said i would of extended the ladder a bit more.
glad im wfp now!! :D :D :D :D

come one fellows I am sure Windowlene did not put up his pics for a lesson in H and S.
-
most window cleaners that have tradded for a long time have probably done much worse, i have to admit i probably have, although after wfp for so long ive gone all soft and when i use a ladder im over careful,

Hi,
I did originally have the ladder higher but as I previosly posted the door was not secure (on latch & not bolt). That is why Ihad it resting on the railings as I said in previous post. No offence taken.
You may well consider this photo for your rogue gallery under the sub heading WFP!
The photo I took a year & half back which I posted on cleanitup.

Thats right but this time I have only posted the one not showing his name & number as Itook a lot of flack last time with threats of court action for posting it.
IF some one knows how to delete the phone number from his van on the other photo I can send it to them to post on my behalf.

course none of you lot every used ladders to clean windows have you, bxllocks
get a grip window cleaner have used ladders for 40 odd years, and will continue todo so.
in the eyes of big H&S NO LADDERS WOULD BE USED,get real, kevin knows what is safe and what not todo.
he know the risk and is happy with taking them.
-
If you have a trusty Harris pole you couldve done all of those doors from ythe ground with trad tools. Nice sets of ladders ;D
-
Hi,
learnt how to edit it.

Did he not see you taking the pic?
-
Hi,
No,
I posted them as I thought they were great photos that I was proud of with no thoughts or remarks as what I thought about bad practice etc. I took a lot of flack on cleanitup for posting them & for showing name & number.

kevin i bet your a mach 3 man too hey??
-
i bet a lot whos said its not safe may only have used wfp, when looking back i took some daft risks, it s what was done, never again though, working off ladders can be safe for lots of people, but us wfpolers think it must be wrong if your using a ladder,
-
that really is one for the ( I want to kill myself wall)
van roof and water, slip hazard
roof rack and hoses thats 2 trip hazards
the roof bars can cause a hook up
constant instability due to the pole
no fall arrest or crash bags.
and to make sure a nice hard surface to fall on and maybe a car to run over him just to make sure.
that would cheer the traffic warden up when they spot him on the double yellows.
Nice one Windolene
I know when I'm getting high, its when I'm stepping of the top rungs of my triple 5.5's thats 48 feet in old money
and before anyone asks no I was not cleaning windows and there was a 20 foot wall ladder to go up as well
-
Did nobody see the other two posts on here regarding window cleaners falling and killing themselves?
I have used ladders for 25 years now, they are a perfect tool for the job. I prefer wooden ones myself, and I know some prefer aluminium.
We always carry ladders on our waterfed pole vans as each window cleaning tool - ladders - pointer-wfp-squeegee - etc has a place where they come in handy.
Just think about what you are doing and be SAFE

What's wrong with that> The van pic is fine. The van has a guard rail around it (well three inch high ones on two sides anyway) ;D
-
I do the same to clean the top of a shop awning

I love that come back Kev thats better than newcastle vs arsenal. Trad guys always get slated on here about how to use ladders by wfp guys. Then you show that photo...lol...Brill. That bloke must have really carried out a risk assesment ah...NOT
-
I remember that picture but what beats all was I went on their website and it says they have poles upto 60 feet ??? ??? ??? ???
Obviously not ??? ??? ??? ???
Good call Kevin ;D
