Hi,

Am traditional so used the next best to WFP. 

This was today an inside & out 2 monthly job in Richmond Surrey. It was very cold but not slippery. My son Scott  foots the  ladder..

Firstly I think you need to give scott a slap. When you weren't looking he nipped off taking pictures while his poor old man slaved away up an unfooted ladder..........


seriously though, the dorma windows look clean, how do you get the one on the side...?

why not put the ladder a bit higher and then you wouldnt need the pole

using a pole of a ladder isnt the way to go, if you had the ladder extended 2 more rungs then you would of reached easily without the pole and been a lot easier and safer, also if the ladder isnt footed you need to get an anti slip device a firm called grippa tank do an excellent one for £40 + vat doing it the way you are it is only a matter of tine before you will have a serious fall

We had allready cleaned the window with Scott footing it. This was posed with me very still.

  it doesnt matter how still you are a ladder can still slip, looking at the floor conditions i doubt it would of but if the flags had been wet then it could definately of gone.

Then you could have put the ladder on the outer edges of the doors and done them one at a time surely?  Less messing about than a pole on a ladder.

I have fond memories of Richmond. Me and the girlfriend met up with some friends there for a liquid lunch, Afterward me and the girlfriend went for a walk in Richmond park (or is it common?). Had a quickie in the middle of the afternoon in lovely sunshine on the park. It is a lovely place, You would not think you are in the poope hole that is London

well extend it then
use it off the sides
then clean side and 1 door each move

To be perfectly honest you need ladder training, make no mistake what you are doing is totally unsafe.

Contact David or Andy at Impact43 and do yourself a favour, get trained as that ladder will go higher and make the job easier.

Would you mind If I copy the picture and send it to the H&S and seek their advice as to what they think?

This is the type of action that gives window cleaners a bad name.

There is absolutely nothing dangerous in what you are doing as far as I can see mate. Those who say place the ladder on the side of the doors....open your eyes will you. The door frame profile is curved and recessed because it is part of the bay framework. Putting the ladder on this would be impossible. The ladder may have been extended to make it easier but using the pole lower down is in no way dangerous. Ladder is set at the correct angle and the ground is dry. What is the problem with some of you bampots at times. Rhino humper are you on drugs or what?
