A local window cleaner to me investigated this and tried jeweller's rouge. It didn't work.
I don't think there's any product that could help to be honest. When you think about it, it'd have to be something abrasive to grind the glass surrounding the scratches down to the same level; and that's going to scratch.
I hope I'm corrected, but I reckon the scratches are there to stay.
Are they bad?

colgate toothpaste m8
use paper to rub it on in swirls in and around scratch
buff up with a microfibre
re apply colgate if needed
it works

Try what the doctor has prescribed and let us know if it works!

Yeah, try it and just go back in 6 months for a check up.

Very light scratches can be removed using cerium oxide, felt or foam pad and a rotary power tool.
Scratches you can feel with your fingernail are hard to remove with c.o. but they do polish up and are much less visible.

antiseptic wipe , then a plaster (waterproof obviously)

A good glazer will fix it, provided it is not a patio door as they are toughened.

ive used t-cut in the past in the motor trade works a treat on car window screens where the wiper arms have been going with no blade on them. always worked for me

And you should be applying several to your son, for scratching the glass in the first place.
