Focus on getting the seo and optimization done right doesn't matter how good it looks or worded if people can't find it its not going to bring in custom.

I would not put prices up. And if you did I would only put from, not to. May cause you some problems.

I also know Hertford, if it's the one in Hertfordshire, you are also too cheap in my opinion.

as said above ,dont  the prices . otherwise you will get stung by an old salt and you will be knackered for little money

you need to be able to price high on the phone if you sense trouble

How come frames aren't cleaned regularly when you clean the windows???

"Most window cleaners don't clean the front door" - not true in my opinion; especially wfp users.

"Sills are cleaned for free" - not really a selling point as almost all do that anyway; a bit like advertising " free quotes"

trick to get top 10 in google is make blogs of ya business and a you tube video, google and youtube communicate all the time and soon as a video pops up on youtube google lists it on its index depending on the tags you put on your video. also the same with blogs  blogger.com is  a good one blogspot.com is another good site but the best is youtube. im not saying if you type in window cleaner you will be in the top 10 or 100 but if you typed in window cleaner in manchester and thats what you put in your video you will come up in top 3 prob. i did it with my computer business yrs ago and got ranked 5th in 20 mins. also post links on other websites or add your website link in your signatures coz that spiders off to your site and links its that way aswell, just join up forums and post with your link lol  i didnt say that bit tho lol  ;D

i was looking at getting a kick ass site but it would have cost me about £700 so after alot of thinking i didn't see the point i am a one man band doing residential cleaning only plus i look after my kids so for the next three years i can't go at it full blow because school holidays would be a total nighmare.

my site is http://erithwindowcleaning.co.uk/beta.html still a working progress though

That's the cookie I still don't see the point of having one as it could put people off before you sell your service

but what if you make it so u look cheap  ;D say charge 40p a window and 80p for conservatory windows each lol then they call you and u say a price and just wait for them to reply, most ppl under pressure give in and say yeh lol

Ok, if that's the way you want to do it then fair enough think you'll find tho if your more upfront and sell your service more then to put people on the spot with your pricing then you will do allot better overall.

to be honest im not the most confident person when it comes to knocking strangers doors and asking if they want a window cleaner lol ::)

keep it simple and say "Would you like a window cleaner?" after about 50 NOs you'll get quite thick skin but keep going. And always be up front with prices and once you get a few interested you will want to keep going, but be prepared for the lows those that cancel change their minds,it takes a while and hard work to build the round up.I started with nothing didnt even have any window cleaning tools but went out and canvass 2 weeks solid,I did have previous experience and had a start of a round, brought some work as well.

Why bother with the world wide web, if you`ve no transport?
I would aim a bit closer to home.

The website looks good, the only thing I didnt like is the price list - I would completely remove the "£ CALL" phrases.

Re knocking on peoples doors - I'm the same as you Ant and not really into that. I would rather drop of leaflets.

You were saying that youre planning to do a logo - can I ask what kind of program are you planning to use for that? I'm in a similar position, just starting with my website and need a good logo too but have no idea how to do it. I have it in my head but dont know how to put it on my screen  ???

to be honest mate if you know what you want you can get something properly done for under £50, you need a program like illustrator that can make vector formats which basically means you can use it for a logo or sighn writing etc as it can be made into any size without loosing the detail.

i have transport as of thursday i got myself a old s reg berlingo  ::)  french crap so something will go wrong within 6 weeks u see. BUT it was what was about and im desperate.
the logo im going to use photoshop cs4 or something, just find a logo online i like and change it about, as for the ruff guide to prices on the site im going to remove that page completely i think. the £CALL bit i dont know what to put in its place, its a guide to prices so what goesin its place?? just leave it blank
