ive noticed that some of you dont work saturdays.how come?
i try not to work them if possible but wednesday it peed down all day and today is a washout so ill be catching up tommorrow(its going to be dry).
over the course of a year you ll be losing a fair bit of money lads!unless you have a small part time round.
i start no earlier than 10am and work until about 4pm-430pm
IMO we have enough bad weather days off in the week sometimes!
i think its criminal to have a saturday off if you have work to do and its dry!!! :D ;D ;D ;D

HOW COME.... thats easy i just dont.... ive done far to many weekends in my time i spend time at home with my family now life is far to short i work to live not live to work. in my opinion if i cant earn enough in 5 days then i will change my job choice ok its raining to day that means i get to take and pick up my little one from play school some thing i never did with the others so i enjoy it

I need to work Saturday daz, Do not like doing them but needs must. I worked Wednesday in the pouring rain doing 2 conny roofs and a gutter/fascia clean, Got drenched.
Missed out on working yesterday in lovely weather as had to get car MOT'd and then taxed, Was going to work in the afternoon but as I was putting stuff away from car I found my van MOT slip and it had run out on 17th September!!! So had to get that sorted then. I bought the van in November and could or sworn it had 12 months test on it ::)

Starting your day's work 2 hours earlier would give you an extra 8 hours work in 4 days, meaning no more Saturdays for you either ::)

I tend to do new ones on a Saturday. This way, you canhave a chat to the customer and not feel like you have got to rush off to keep up with the days schedule.
I also work them if I lose 2 days a week due to the weather (like today).

if its a choice between working saturday or going shopping with the girlfriend i know which id choose!! ;) ;D ;D

I prefer to spend time with kids/girlfriend, But she is working and not got kids until Sunday, So I plan to work.......things rarely go to plan though :P

I worked weekends for 25 years in previous employment. I take the chance to not work as much as I can and spend time with my family. I missed all their early years doing that.
I still do the odd one, but it suits me to do a few hours early on a Saturday once every 4 weeks.

i didnt say i work every saturday!i will be tommorrow as ive had wednesday and today off due to heavy rain!
its just an option and use a saturday as a catch up day sometimes

I recently started working 2 Saturdays per month either due to new custies or weather being poope in week like today.
I'm also going to Ibiza on Tuesday (my 3rd holiday abroad this year) So need to put enough in bank to cover my dd's.

I enjoy working on saturdays its not a full day start about 10:30 - 11:00 until 4 or 5 I used to keep it as a catch up day but as taking on more work slowly turned into a normal day. It also seems to be the best day for picking up work people at home and see you about and cars driving by stopping and asking to go give them a quote
My mrs goes out shopping with the kids and there gran on saturday for the best part of the day so im better off working each to there own

It is never fun wait. My reasons are
1. I do not like getting soaked through
2. Customers do not like it (yes Iknow the rain water does not make them dirty)
3. It is dangerous. Rungs get wet and the ground is wet. I would rather be safe and not risk serious injury for £150.

1. good quality waterproofs will stave off the most of it!
2. using wfp most of customers dont have a prob because im
wetting windows anyway and i dont get any complaints.

1. Cannot afford a WFP system
2. Maybe it is due to the splash and dash brigade around here but all the windows I have seen done by WFP have come up awful. Maybe I need someone to show me it used properly.

if you can save £500 you can afford a simple d.i trolley set up!
& get some good waterproofs and you wont get wet at all let alone soaked through!!!

lets be honest guys NONE of us work if its lashing down and windy like it is up north today!its different if it starts raining while we re still at work and its off and on with no strong wind!

i have my 2year old to look after all weekend so cant work saturdays but belive me when he`s old enough i`l have him out on a saturday working with me so he understands the value of earning a living. My dad did the same with me when i was 14

You gotta get out there mate, get on with it, even on a day off. No slacking allowed, even if you havent got the work youve still got to get out there and get on with it. Particularly when its chucking it down ;D

I only work part of the odd sat if it's worth it, but then I'm not completely full. Not tomorow though the rains stopping and I'm off fishing with my son :)

i think smaller companies can just work when they want, especially if its just domestic work.
we have at least one member of staff working 24/7. As we have to provide a night cleaner/cleaners for a few jobs...
i personally work every day but only half days on sat and sun.
70% commercial though and thats why i/we have to work on the wkends ...

I'd cancel if I was you. They're not cheap kids parties - food, entertainment, party bag etc etc. Cancel and go fishing. Much more enjoyable.

I'm with Tom on that one; fishing is far more fun.
I sometimes work on a Saturday but I'd rather not cause Saturdays are for footie - even the wife loves the game - she loves Stevie at least :)

like others on here,in my previous job i worked countless Saturdays in the past and THATS THE PAST , not for me now. i Enjoy my weekends ,once ive flung my squeegee into my bucket on Friday afternoon im switched off from the work .

i work some saturdays and even the ocassional sunday but only half days,9 till 2.30 or so 10 till 2 sunday.but i do take days of during the week a lot due to being quite lazy.I also have a severe drink problem and absolutely no life whatsoever so makes no difference to me. :-*

i learnt the hard way :o :oworked 7days a week for 13years and when i got divcored i had nothing to show from it,apart from my self and clothes i was in. :D :P
so i learned the hard way,if i do work its for 1-3hrs max,when the family getting ready.which aint often. ;) ;)

I didn't realize that it has become compulsory to work Saturdays if one has to avoid being labelled as lazy! For all you know I might work hard all week!
That said, I work maybe 3 out of 4 Saturday afternoons for around 3-4 hours (the mornings are reserved for the 'more important things'.
I do however reserve the right to choose how and when I conduct my business :)

No I wont, I allow for rainy periods, Ive got money put by for that ta muchly.
If it rains next week my concerns wont be financial, theyll be about getting motivated for when things are more suitable.

well off you all go to work those that are im taking my kids go karting for one of there birthdays then to the fair thats in town fun fun fun thats what lifes about after all back to work monday

Well went to first job today (10.15) and was told this is my only day off can you come back monday?
my next job was next door so i put that one off, next job all in as cars on drive but wont open door, next one curtains all closed so still in bed wont open door.
Then gave up and came home!!

O.k, dodge in out of showers, very light rain maybe.
Pi55ed down nearly all day this friday; week before thurs and friday.
I always thought base your earnings on 4 day week, so you nearly always hit your o.t.e
i.e 6 potential work days a week (not sunday).
Unfortunately i have to do alot of school runs, it always seems to rain on thurs and fri when i have no school runs to do ;D
I just can't see how you can work in the rain, and how customers willing have windows done.
It's like the thermo pure systems; not saying there good; but one of their selling points they like to push is work even in snow.
If the snow is bad like last winter then how are you gonna get to your custies?
you might smash your van up on the way to em.
Can imagine a lot of knock backs fom custies in snow as well as rain.
Our business is a very good one but unfourtanately like everything else it's not perfect, if it was everyone would be doing it :D
