Title: Customer taking over!!
Post by: Deep Cleaning Solutions on June 19, 2010, 05:11:54 pm
I was cleaning a front room carpet today for an asian famliy,
when i notice a draught mark that i missed.
I walk out to the front garden to get a bit of ultrapac,
when i come back mrs patel is going for it,hammer and tongues!.......

......Yes there she was, wand in hand cleaning the carpet shouting.....

.......... "VERY GOOD CLEANER" ,... "VERY GOOD CLEANER".

Her technique leaved alot to be desired,
hand constantly on trigger on a wool hessian backed carpet.  :o

Never mind at least she made a mean curry.  ;D

It seems to me that only Asians watch over us like hawks while we're working, whats wrong with them? Did a job a few weeks ago and the man and lady stood in every room while we worked getting in the way all the time. There must be a reason, was wondering whether the family kitty for their next house was hidden somewhere?!?!...

All the best,
Jason.

Agree with that. If it's not the adults pointing out every little spot or appearing with an endless supply of rugs............it's the kids jumping around spilling sweets all over the place.

Complete lack of parental discipline and I reckon a complete lack of courtesy

Its not racism its a fact of life! They are the worst of the worst people to work for! And should i even mention the fact that they are as tight as f.... and the haggling! I cant be bothered with that! my life is stressful enough dont need a battle over my price. Its like they want to you to work for free! And every businessman or woman i talk to it about say exactly the same thing..

Cheapskate perfectionist thats what they are. I have about three good asian customers but even two of those moan about the price every so often. Thats 3 good ones in 10+ years of trading.
As soon as i get a bad one they automaticly go on the "pooplist" and they'll never see my services again, just hang up the phone on them when they call lol (Same goes for all colours and cultures by the way!)

Colin  the cornish ones ;D

I tend to say am booked up for 6 weeks that normally puts them off ;D

Very true about wanting the extra rug or room while your here free as it will only take you another 5 mins::)

Yes they do tend to watch over you and thats not something i tend to put up with anymore ::)

Hey Tony, even if it was racist it wouldn't bother me... It's just that a topic similar to this was closed down because some do gooder took offence ::)

I work for quite a lot of Asians and I find they vary, but in the main, I share the same experiences as some of the posts above and even some "Chalky" custy's barter and stand over me when I'm working..... ;D

yeah i remember the thread your talking about Colin. That was annoying as i didn't get to have my say then lol
That was ridiculous what some people where saying about wanting to have the thread closed down, they are more that welcome to my pooplist :)

I just see it as a FACT of life! which it is.

Talking of RACISM ................would you believe a pub in Dundee was forced to take down an English flag which had been pinned up behind the bar. Some one complained to the police and they insisted it was removed

It was the normal St Georges flag but had a comment added...............as a joke.............about a Robert Green being a Scottish supporter or something like that.

Was it being RACIST or just TAKING THE MICK which bounces back and forth and always will.

Sad old world.

Only been going a year only had a couple of Asian customers ended up walking out on both due to them wanting me to discount so heavily it was not worth doing, i think they were both quite surprised, i just said that i have plenty of customers that pay "that price" so why should i do it for less, my customers expect value for money and a professional job, said that they could easily find someone cheaper and suggested they do that ::)

I have had alsorts of different kinds of customers and I agree about some Asians but I had a lovely guy who asked me to clean his BW that had previously cleaned and shrunk by the previous cleaner. It was dirty it had been restretched from the previous cleaning experienced but the room was fairly empty and I was offered a drink which I gladly took as it was a hot day and I then performed a great job for him which he congratulated me on and paid me and I wish all of my customers were like that.

I also had a farmers wife watch me clean a very dirty draylon suite which by all accounts wasn't that dirty!!! then after the job was done wanted to negotiate the price after she was given a quote over the phone and a quote before I touched the suite (worked for farmers before) they do say that you never see a poor farmer and that's probably why and I know which customer I would rather work for!

If asians are cooking , I alway ASK for some curry , I tell them I am seing if it is as good as the last one. They always love being asked to provide food .

If they are Muslim it is part of thier religion to never leave a "traveller" hungry.

I dont work For Asians at all now other than the 3 or 4 that are in system already...... but last week a Mr Ali rung up and said a mrs ........ had recod him to us, the client that recd is with a very big well known in his and other communities  ;) and he pays no mind to haggling what so ever so I give Mr Ali a high price just in case so he could knock me down ( its there culture !)

did the job and his tenant was paying ( African ) then he tried to knock a £10 off so I got on the phone to Mr Ali then He tried it on a Bit , in the end I lost my temper slightly, we got paid got in the van then Mr Ali turned up we had some choice words then I left him " I will give K..... a ring and tell him about what has gone on and for them Not to recomend any more of his family or friends.  That went down like a lead brick, Mr Ali turned into Mr I so so sorry and offered us some extra cash. told him to stick it.
got 2 more calls through the day off Mr Ali with so Sorry bla bla. In The end I spoke to Mr K.... and run him through what had happened he said " No I agree with you it will be sorted.

Truth of the matter is that the 95% of them ive meet in this indusrty, they want " you wash carpet" " you do me good job" for peanuts.

So now I treble the price and just say good bye !

Rightly or wrongly, I increase my quote to Aisan sounding customers in order to have leeway to negotiate. They have strong family ties and values, and part of that is to get "the best price", so if they can beat you down, they keep face. If you have built in the margin to let them do that, you can get the price you want.

As for being watched the following works.

Go to the van, put on gloves, goggles and a respirator, which makes me sound like Darth Vader when I speak, and bring back a pump spray with somthing strong, like water. I then tell them that its probably quite safe as I spray the water around watch them leave quite fast.

Cheers

Mike

Did a job for a young Iraqi couple last year and he insisited he helped me !
There he was on his hands and knees with the spotter and brush. He kept filling and emptying my buckets and he too wanted a go at using my wand !

Not only that, when the job was finished (in half the time I may add)...I sat down with him and his wife to tea and buscuits.  :D

I also tend to say that i am fully booked or really hike the price up, not done so many, but out of the five last year they all had broken ovens on arrival, even though every customer is asked at the point of booking whether the oven is in full working order. as soon as you kneel down to check the oven and tell them its broke its the same story, well it wasn't before, what have you done.

I did a qoute for a bloke in Cambridge.

When I returned to d job he was not there but THis Englishwoman

I could not decide if she was cleaner or mistress.

Anyway she watched every move. Insisted the carpet was not coming clean although as it was a beige one I kept explaining they go darker as they get wet. and when they dry they fine

Kept insisting I do that bit again.

In the end I decided enough was enough just shut my machine down and walked

Foutuantley ive only come across one like that
