George Back Up
« on: May 21, 2014, 08:25:48 pm »
Ok so I back up George to the internet - I guess I have 6 months free usage as it says I have until October 12th or somesuch.

Now we have two PC's the one that George is on is playing up this evening so I want to retrieve George onto my other which does not have George loaded on it. What do I do?

Thanks

Contact Paul and he will send you a copy of your latest backup, then download the data install software from his site and follow the instructions.

I back mine up to Dropbox, that way I always have immediate access to my latest backup so no waiting time.

Paul will walk you through it.

iv found the only sure way it to pay for the backup. once you store your data ,it sends a slightly longer message that your data is backed up [at George hq]

i found out that if you dont pay, when it messages u data backed up,in fact it isnt backed up at all .

I told this forum the same thing last year.

Get GOOGLE DOCS, and save your backup every time to a folder in Google docs.   Its synced online so you have a copy on your machine and a COPY on google servers which can easily be downloaded to a new PC by downloading and using your username to sign in.

Just backup George onto a memory stick or anything suitable. You can also save the back up to the desktop or anywhere on your pc, and then attach it to an email and send it to yourself.

On the other pc you just restore the back up to George. It'll over write all the data and then you'll have same data on both pc's.

Use Microsoft Cloud.

Set the Back up to go straight to the cloud.  Download the cloud app for you computer, and it will auto sync a copy of your cloud on your computer.

therefore you have two backups without having to keep running backups or emailing the file the file to yourself.

I believe about £60 for George which to me is incredible value. George was there way before any other programs and is a one off payment for the program. I've been using it for about 10 or 11 years.

100% agree George for me is the best value and easy to use.  Just one small upfront payment to by the software.  None of this monthly payment lark.

George does everything you need and easy to use.

Hi

That's not true. George backs up to your PC every time you close it down. It also asks if you want to backup to somewhere else as well, but there's no point in backing up to your local C: drive or desktop. You already have a local backup.

If you subscribe to our Internet Backup system (£12 a year) it also backs up to our server.

I think what he was getting at was that if your hadn't paid your subscription it would still appear  to be backing up to the server as normal. Thats what happened to me. I got a warning a long way before the due date and forgot about it.

Hi

You get regular warnings before it expires and then it pops up a message afterwards telling you it's expired

It also stops displaying the Internet Backup progress screen that tells you it's backing up to our server - so it should be fairly obvious that it isn't.

What's done is done but I managed to go eighteen months not knowing my subscription was out. Backed it up to the internet every night only it wasn't. Lost everything from 2007 too. My own fault I know.

Hi

I'm sorry about that - it really annoys me when people lose data.

That's why I wrote the Internet Backup system. Most of our users wouldn't back up at all if George didn't make them...

the date comes up every time you back up telling you what date it needs to be renewed.if its out of date it wont be backed up to the george server.
