I bought some work, i did it for the first time last month, and one particular job was a bit cheap. it was marked down for £11

I think it should of been more like £18

So when i done it this month, the lass came out and asked how much. I said well it was £11.

She went off the handle saying she was only ever charged £7  [although she paid me £11 last month]

I said not a chance. She tried to offer me a "sweetener" by offering my £7.50 

needless to say, one less customer but gained 2 more in the same village today

Also, in the same village, i quoted an old lass £8.00 she proceeded to say £5 is plenty, and that her last windy only charged £5  :

I said , £8 is the price im offering. she wasnt having it so i just thanked her for her time & interest and wished her a good day

thats how i look at it  like u said u ave already replaced it, so not lost anything just gained

custys are so hard to judge you could quote two houses same size, same price ,same street one will be shocked and say im not paying that to have my windows cleaned and the other will say oh is that all when can you do them.

i picked up a new custy on fri, should of just been a £10 job but i put the price in at£15
she nearly ripped my arm off. sayin is that all  gutted  hate it when that happens  :

I did one underpriced account for years, an £11 job which really should've been closer to £20.  It was all my own fault, I just never put the price up until earlier this year.  I put the price upto £16 with a full explanation why the increase was warranted; and they cancelled.

I just felt a mug for cleaning them for several years at a dirt cheap price.

i had the odd one or two like that tosh and i put em all up a fiver(one £7!)i didnt lose one!i never wrote them a letter and spoke to them face to face and explained to them matter of factly that they were way underpriced.i also put 80% of my other custys up by 50p/£1/£2/£3 and lost 4 then 2 came back the next month!

ive picked up £130 of new work this week from recommendation alone!

i seem to be on a roll at the moment!

i find my round is constantly changing and will change again soon as ill be adding wfp so their skylights,windows above connys etc will be gettin cleaned at an extra cost!

It's good business is going well for you, Daz, and to be honest things are great my end too.  A window cleaner has retired; he didn't do a lot mind; but I've picked up a fair bit of nice work from that.  All my work is nicely priced and I've not got any 'groaners'.

I've had a great weekend too and I'm looking forward to next weeks work (a day at a time  ).

we all like a moan !  one of mine cancelled me the other week, tellin me this long winded story about a relative made redundant after 30 years whose now startin a few windows parttime and eager to do hers for free. pretty sure her stories not true ,i could see it in her face but hey  she is history now-FOREVER -as id not once take anybody back  once cancelled

also i had this indian couple who said "not this time " twice and she later rang me,wanting me to come. i thought about saying"i can come but its got to be regular from now on,ok " but decided it was best to say "your off the list now im afraid" and wont go back,replace with new only

im also picking up a steady stream of conny roof cleans which i fit in at the end of a working day!

I have found Indians to be the worst custys to price for; they have a different culture to us and want to haggle everything down. I used to hate pricing them but now look forward to it as I always have fun.
The last one was a few weeks ago, average house next to 3 others I clean so I said I would do it for £12, “ooo dear that’s far too much, I will give you ten pounds” So I said, ok £10 is fine, which windows would you like me to miss? “but I want them all cleaning” ok that’s fine also, that’s still £12. “no I will give you ten pounds” Ok I said how about I miss out the lounge and kitchen window and we call it a tenner?
This went on for a couple of minutes till he gave in and agreed to £12. I walked off and had a smile on my face all day.

not a snob clean anyone who pays,some of the rough ones are the best payers
