Jan,

Sorry but this sounds a bit cheeky, but it's not meant to be. :)

It sounds very much like you have the set up that I am trying to acheive, working from home and not having to do much cleaning yourself.

As i have explained in other topic, I haven't been operating very long and I am struggling for work.I believe that this is the quite time of year and things will pick up once the kids have gone back to school.( Can't wait for that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I have taken on a few end on tenancy cleans this week, but my experianced cleaner let me down and phoned me from her mobile on Friday eve to tell me that she was on her way up north and won't be coming back.(short notice or what!!)
SO I have had to finish the end of tenancy clean myself on Saturday and Today (Sunday).I now have a staffing prolem, reason being is, I'm not suppose to do any heavy cleaning or anything to physical because I have heart failure, and extremely high blood pressure.

I have interviewed a woman this after noon, but I'm not sure about her. I think I will give her a trial period and see how she cleans.

Anyway, back to the point, how did you get to the stage your are at so quickly.

Any advice would be greatly received, maybe we could have a chat over the phone sometime.

I

Hi Denise!

Just been lucky I think really, but I did do a lot of the hard slog myself in the beginning and along with my girls once they came on board! It wasn't until  had 2 established girls with my and the third coming on board that I let all my cleaning work go (still do ironing of course even now, and one-off cleans when not in holidays).

Don't get me wrong, it was the scariest move I made (apart from putting my prices up) and I had to take a massive drop in pay.......and it has really taken about 4 months to bring it back to a level (via new clients that my girls are cleaning for) similar to what it was before!!

I still have a mare of a job getting reliable cleaners, but the point I am making is  carried on doing the work myself until I felt the business was in a position where I could let it go!

Jan :D
anyone with facebook can add me at this link ...  jan 'minkeedj' kindon  .... if you can be bothered lol

Hi Denise
I have been operating for the past 2 yrs and have 15 cleaners, I still go out and clean on a regular basis because there is always a cleaner off sick/holiday/no show ect, or client wants extra clean or 1 off  clean is required and no spare staff
its hard work and one day I keep promising myself I will not need to go out and clean, but I will not turn away work-so I keep on cleaning and doing the administration work and servicing the equipment and making sure all new staff
know what is required of them, and doing the invoicing and payroll and running a home. But I love it.
