Thinking about getting a pressure washer set up to clean amongst other things, soffits and underside of gutters.

When used with the extendable lance, can someone give me a rough idea how long it takes to clean a 3 bed semi, with, 2 sides of gutters and soffits............cheers lads

jeff on here will be able to tell you. i have te equipment but haven't used it yet for a job. be careful when washing soffits as ye dont want to get water inside house

Mick...i have the same setup as jeff as he gave me the advice on the equipement.
I do a standard wimpey style 3 bed semi house in around 1 hour...thats gutters (in/out),fascias,soffitts,frames...all the upvc.This includes setting up and packing away with no conservatory (as the connie roof is still done using the wfp)...i reckon i save half the time than when i did them properly using the pole...

Mick are you leafletting the upvc cleans?I know when you started out you flooded the areas with flyers for windows,just wondered how you were getting the connie and upvc work...i am getting loads from my van and allways pick up from regulars.I honestly believe this is a great stand alone business...

Yes got a fiat doblo with before and after pics in the panels both sides of a connie roof and a merged before and after pic of gutters on the rear panel,all this along with business name,contact details and web address....blue van with yellow wording...even had a call from someone whilst i was waiting at tesco's for the mrs on saturday evening..they were also in the carpark at the same time (but decided to call me instead of knocking on the van door... )....

Ive just come of the phone from a S.O.E. company....looking at getting another web site, and having it marketed. Spending the leafleting money on a professional site this year instead.

How do you clean the frames? are they done by hand? And can i ask which pressure washer you got? thanks

see i was thinking of getting something like that on van but i am about to order my signwriting kit but dont have any graphics on it.  i have posted it on another threa dof what i plan to get. Really think ye would  get good replies with it compared to upvc cleaning which i nmost likely will have. post a pic of yer van matey

Mick i make sure that all the frames have a good spray firstly with a tfr (i am using ecover from gardiners at the moment,and am well impressed with the results).I then use the prssure washer with a wide nozzle on and clean the frames,just the same with the gutters,fascias,soffitts.It really does take minutes to do runs of guttering that used to be a pain with cobbies in the brackets.At the very worst the green algea needs a scrub after the tfr has been applied and then pressure washed off.It's a shame that the pressure would be too much for connie roofs but i dare not try just in case the seals break.
I will get a pic up soon of the van,i think there was a post on putting pics up so i will have a look at that.

too have the site built using my original domain name, and marketed, £800, ive spent £99 on a site and £200 on another, but want to get it right up in the searches.

The fella who does it must know what hes doing, he comes up no.1 on all searchs for website marketing and theres 100's of them!!!

Im up there with connie cleaning and upvc but not the windows. So gonna spend what i would have on the leaflets!!

Could i be a pain and ask if you could mail me exactly what you got for the cleaning..i.e. pressure washer lance etc....i'm going to order it all, got 8 to do on top of the window cleaning for next week already, give me some practice...lol

i know, seems a lot, but i was talking to a custie who is in the same business, he does it for a compensation company, said if you want it done properly with results, you gotta be looking at a grand plus!!!!

I dont mind paying top dollar for good results. Ive always spent well on advertising and marketing, and i gotta say, its paid off!!

hi dan,i use the washer and telescopic lance for fascia and guttering and must say it does a great job and saves a lot more time,i have been asked about cleaning window frames and sills using this method but am worried about damaging seals,have you ever had any probs with this also how do you clean the actual window sills without actually being able to see them from the ground?thanks in advance

Gemma...i will only clean the frames with a pressure washer if there are no vents in the tops,however i allways wfp the cills from the ground.I have a pole with a vikan cill brush that i use just for upvc cleans,and it gets soaked in tfr so i am confident that all the crap comes away.

I've had windows that leak with wfp I wouldn't fancy blasting them with high tds tap water myself. Each to their own. Also don't think it's wise to shove all the gutter waste down the drainpipe either.

Dave....firstly you can adjust the amount of pressure being used very simply and secondly yes obviously if upvc windows are prone to leaking then other means of cleaning are available,basically no differant from wfp.

No crud gets blasted down the drainpipe either.
The same as Jeff has done,i have had a tool made that fits onto any pole that can scoop the crap out first,then with the gutter cleaning tool i am able to wash the gutters out,whatever goes down the drainpipe is at this stage in liquid form not solid and is quite capable of being flushed away.
So you see all angles are thought of before a job is taken on,thats the beauty of quoting a job on site,this way i get to ask all the relevant questions and to do a quick survey of the condition of the job at hand.

I have a 10m hose on my pw and run it wherever i am,main hose from outside tap on customers property.
I think people are getting carried away with the pressure washer on the windows,maybe i didn't explain how i do it properly.In no way would i aim the pw directly at the windows close up,i have the flow as low as it will go with a wide spray nozzle on.This really equates to no more than a normal hose pressure,and obviously you can lower the direct pressure by moving the lance...so dont worry peeps the customers windows are cleaned and not flooded.
