How many of you wfp guys do terraced houses and how do you cope when there is no access to the rear? Do you just do the fronts?

Thanks

i know of someone who has over 500 houses an the majority are terraced. he jumps over all the fences at the rear to gain access, the other month he broke one of the fences and point blank refused to pay for it, he has now lost a lot of his customers to someone who looks after them.

by the way he was never asked to jump over he just did it off his own back to earn more

Not worth the time or hassle unless you have a dozen or so in a row and you're only do fronts, or you do front and back and charge for inconvenience and hassle time ;D

I avoid them.  In my first year or so I had a couple of days work like that.  I gave them all away.  That was with trad gear too.  I found they were poor money earners due to all the stop-start and you could never rely on the takings because there was no way of knowing if it was a day of mostly front only or if there would be people in.

im suprised you felt that way when you were working Trad stan.  a fair bit of my round is terraced and i dont understand you say it was stop- start ?  round my way  every 4th house in a terrace has a small passageway to get around the backs , could be yours were different .

I leave them for trad cleaners unless you can do the row, end terrace are ok there are way to many houses out there that are semi or detached (well in the areas I do there are)
I do love terraces for gutter cleaning though  ;D

They were different.  No way to the backs whatsoever except through the houses.  Getting ladders through the house sometimes difficult if not in a straight line.  Danger of causing damage to indoor fittings.  I wouldn't do it WFP either normally even using a backpack.  I have made a couple of exceptions but those are people I knew before W/Cing.

Any newbies looking for work will find "access through house" jobs easy to find because experienced window cleaners usually avoid them. I took some on when I first started out but soon realised they were too much hassle. If I come across any work like that now, I just tell the customer we don't do it for Health & Safety reasons.
