Just got a letter in from the water board informing me that they intend to install a water meter at my premesis.

I have a large tank which is constantly filling from my ro machine.

Do any of you have water meters?

How expensive is it?

for welsh water it is £1.70(ish) for 1000ltrs. Thats just water, not sewerage

I am in Essex and we get charged £1.09 per cubic metre (1,000 litres)

Don't forget you'll have to pay for all that waste water you chuck down the drain too.

You can apply every time you have your bill for some discount on your sewerage costs. I'm expecting my water rates to be around£100 per month. Hope it's not more.

Is it best to use a merlin if you are on a water meter? Only a pal asked me this question and i didnt know and that i would find out on here.

You will find that the waste to production on the merlin is very high,so on a meter it will work out more than say a 4040.....

I use 4000L per day, plus wastage say 4000L per day.

If what you guys are saying is right I'll be looking at, at least £10 a day.

Not without a price increase I wont. The reason I got a static RO was because it was cheaper, now it will be just as cheap to fill at customers houses I recon.

Until now water has been free. That is how our costings are worked out. £10 a day is £3,500 straight off my bottom line.

You seem to have got away without paying for water, do you have a unit ? if you do could you not look for another which includes water.

could you not add a customer or 2 per day to cover the extra costs ?
