Funny old world isn't it? About two years ago when we got the latest family shed I put the previous family shed (an old Rover 600) in the "trade-it" on line at £155 o.n.o. as a runner but really for spares or repairs basis but it had about three months MOT.
No takers for a week but then a geezer phones me up at 11.30pm and asks if it's still for sale and "does it start and drive? "
I bit my tongue and said yeah and he said I'll come and get it now. I said it's too late etc, come 1st thing in the morning.
6 am he's there cash in hand with a mate; I get a reluctant (turned out to be false) signature on the "logbook", £155 cash and no haggling.
Two days later the law phone up as my car has "been involved in an incident and where were you at 3am this morning? And didn't you sell that a bit cheap?" - "What would you pay for an L reg Rover?" I ask the WPC who says "point taken".
Fortunately my sale was kosher but the guy gave a false name so what the incident was I have no idea!
Modified to add: Hi Ian; raining in Chepstow too, eh?
Hope I'm on topic as I'm supporting the incredulity of the "How late do people call?" topic. I hope you agree the link is not too tenuous. Mmmmm, I like purple and I'm going to use it for all side-comments to moderators from now on!
