Yes you can. If you are using resin then it must be food grade resin. Probably wouldn't do you much good in the long run due to the lack of nutrients. I wouldn't drink any of mine from the holding tank after seeing the slime on the pump and traces of algae but direct from the ro and resin would be ok.

I use a merlin RO which was designed originally to provide drinking water. But  I wouldn't drink the water after its been through the resin.
p.s.I use the merlin water when making homebrew beer.Makes a big difference!

i suppose you could drink from ro before going into resin.

trouble is drinking after resin there would be a good chance of being ill due to bacteria, micro-organisims.

chlorine is in the water as you probably know to inhibit legonaires disease, the bacteria is always present in tap water, hence the need for chlorine.

there is know benefit of drinking ro-water as everything has been taking out as said.

As for washing in i'm not sure; i know my mrs says her hair always seems nicer on hols in spain, soft water less shampoo needed etc.

I don't have this prob with my hair, don't need much shampoo wherever i am ;D

nutrients?? they are impurities

body only needs pure h20

the minerals are a bonus but not a necessity for "water"

we are 98% water or something daft so you need it for your cells, blood stream , kidneys bla bla

so it would be fine

whether id want to drink coming out of my pole hose and dirty brush head is anothe story :)

Sometimes when it gets really cold I take my pole hose out of the tap and have a drink.
Hope this ok, lol.  Although I really dont see how it cant be bad.

pure H2O is not natural!
rain water is about 020 and fresh clean river water has a TDS of 080.
This is because the water always comes into contact with rocks, soil etc thus adding minerals to the water.
RO units are fitted in homes for drinking water.
It was water companies who found out about RO filteration in the first place

We are 80% water, yes we need the water to keep ourselves hydrated and to keep our blood thin enough to run through our veins and arteries with ease.
however our blood cells need minerals and nutrients especially iron, and they get this from water.

not always

iron is in green food

guiness and fruit etc

i know that normally water is in contact with mineral

however just because there is no mineral in it

it is still h20

that is my point :)

maybe safe to drink ,maybe not ,  why are you wanting to drink it anyway?

if ever you got ill with anything and had to go to the doctor,id think it would complicate things once you explained you had been fiddling around with your drinking water

You can drink RO water but not after DI.
think of it as a giant brita water filter.

Pure water to the quality we use is not found in nature.  Water as it evapourates forms absolutely pure water vapour (leaves all the nasties behind) but only exists for microseconds as it immediatlely starts to absorb impurities from the air.

Pure water is aggressive, hence so good for cleaning windows as it 'eats' dirt from the surface as it returns to its naturally impure state.  Something to do with pH values, I think.

So if you drink water at 000ppm, the first thing it contacts is your mouth, gullet etc.  Do you want to risk it dissolving lumps of you?

I've heard that it will do funny things to your stomach lining after a while.

Also, as it's been stripped of all nutrients and minerals it's pointless anyway.
You couldn't survive on it like proper water.

You could try a cocktail with Meths and pure water. Just add a slice of lemon and ice. Mmmmmmm ;)
