Quickest Ladder roof rack clamp for trad?
« on: February 10, 2010, 05:38:40 pm »
Hi all,

I am guessing that until I am able to get established doing trad, I am likely to need to travel around quite a bit, & speed being of essence.

I have been looking at various ways of clamping ladders to roof racks, & wondered if anyone can advise on the best type?

Thule do an expensive version using a ladders stop & strap system, but I am not sure it would last long with so much use, & the other type being the common spinning clamp type.

If anyone has any advice, then many thanks.

Bungee straps with hooks. Been using them for about 4 years Trad and wfp. Never had a problem with them. Just replace them when they start fraying.

I only ever use the spinny type ladder stays when travelling long distances but have been on the motorway at high speeds with just the bungees before with no problems at all.
