i have  a17ft extel which i think is fantastic for most of my work. Also have a 34ft hybrid for some other stuff but was wondering what decent 25ft poles out there which dont cost the earth.

what are 25ft extel poles like

just ordered a brodex 25ft alloy pole,heard they are decent and was cheap do i thought was well worth a try.

i got a 25 xtel from gardiners, paid 117 inc vat for it everything except brush,  love it wish i had bought the really big one now, as easily break down and use in small parts

Depends how much you want to spend?
like everything in life you get what you pay for, I have the SLX25 which is my most used pole in my arsenal.

i have the brodex alloy 7ft and 25ft, I find the 25ft pole fantastic, its really hard wearing and seem like it will last for year.

Have a look before you buy else where, its only £115 including brush, crank/gooseneck, connector and hose.

I have an extel 17ft pole, its a nightmare for windows over conservatories, I have never had a clamp issue, they do become loose now and then but so do the extels, with the extels you need to tighten them up with a screwdriver, with the SLX you tighten it up with you fingers.
if you know anyone with a brodex or an SLX ask if you can have a go with it. try before you buy.

Hi JSMC

Yes - there were some teething problems with the new slx clamps but that has been resolved.  I believe the company making the clamps changed the material from the original spec without telling Gardiners.  Gardiners supplied everyone with new clamps.  Excellent service and a brilliant pole.

im really close to ordering a slx, i keep reading about issues with them though, what are the brodex really like compared to the slx, has anyone got both of the poles or used them both at some time?

I have been using a brodex 18ft alloy pole - got it second hand and in general i would say it's excellent BUT compared to using my SL2 it's very heavy and really hard on the shoulders and arms when pitching over conny roofs or extensions at odd angles

i hope to be getting an SLX25 in a few months

i hate to think how much hard work an 25 foot ali pole would be reaching over large items.

But if all your work was straight up/down stuff then go for it!

whats the weight and strength like though?

a little heavy compared to other poles, but quite strong.

The pole feels like it could take a good few drops and still be fine, it comes with a alloy base, which is good.

I feel like this pole will last a good few year, not like other poles.

I've had a 25' slx for 18 months,
Had a 25' alloy hydra(cut down to 20') for a few weeks.
hydra seems like it will go on for years, good ridigity, but if you have used a slx then the hydra is heavier, not a lot but definately noticible after a days work.
Not a bad pole though, very good for the price, but slx edges it because its so light, although slx wear issues can be a problem.

ste m  i have the slx 18 ft and i have used it every day for 6 months and its just about had it clamps keep coming lose keep washing it down every day i spend more time looking after this pole than i do my kids so looking round for some think else
