Don't waste your money, I did an add campaign on local radio for a company I used to work for, it cost thousands and we only got hundreds back!! You need to campaign for months for this to work, and then you need really deep pockets.

spend your money on leaflets and a good designed van,  get as many leaflets where ever you can, pubs, shops, take aways,   pay the local paper boy to deliver flyers to people,  i get the bloke who delivers papers for the local coop   the free one that advertise what they have on offer to do mine when he does them,

our local radio station can be picked up 28 + miles away so for me it would be a big no no , but if your local station is within a 5 mile radius then it could be a good way to advertise ,
before you do try to find out how many listeners the station gets .
where theres muck theres money

It is with Ashbourne radio, went and saw them yesterday, advert goes out from next tuesday, have reduce the days from 7 days a week over 3 weeks to 5 days a week over 4 and a half weeks for same price of £75+vat,there were 2 or 3 different longer term deals, which I will look into if this campaign gets any significant results
