I think customers have every right to be able to contact you,we're professionals, not cowboys, only Pikeys don't give their phone numbers out
I have the landline open to them as well as my mobile ;D

My feeling is that all custies should have all your contact details (name/address/phone/mobile/e-mail etc etc)  What have you got to hide? One of my sales pitches goes like: if you had a window cleaner and all you knew about him was his first name and mobile number, and he had an accident on your property and did some damage, how would you find out who he really is so you can make a claim?  We are completely up-front, we have nothing to hide so you can have complete confidence in us.

I'll bet youve lost a lot of work through not having an available phone number.

I insisat on making myself totally contactable to all customers.
They get my landline, mobile, and virtual numbers as well as my email and postal addresses.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
In fact, making myself easily contactable is one of my selling points.  I've seen so many leaflets with say "Fred" and a mobile number.  I know I wouldn't phone someone with such scant details.  Nothing wrong with just a mobile number so long as you give an address but a landline number is certainly better.  I had to do it on just a mobile for a while after leaving my former partner and having three different addresses in a few months.  It wasn't easy and I know it stopped some people enquiring because I was told so by them later once I had sorted myself out.

If your customers are like that, it sounds like a canvass and cull is overdue.

my customers all have my number  and i always put the time i finished their clean on any slip i leave at their house. you never know if there might be a burglary or  somebody assaulted on that street later on the same day  and best you have nothing to hide and are easy to get hold of / regularly i see the police helicopter above where i am working !

Possibly, but by putting the time on, you are leaving yourself open to accusations of lying.
I take it you're joking, right?  :)

Maybe I should start putting my van mileage on too.

why would i lie about the time i was there?  im not really sure as to why i started putting the time on my slips , i think i started doing it about a year ago when  the helicopter was directly overhead ,a knee jerk reaction .  nobodys ever commented on me writing it but im now in the habit of looking into my car at the clock.

What I meant was, if you were the sort of person to do something dodgy, the fact that you put the time on could make it look like you have something to hide - which is the opposite to what you are intending.

I can think of a good reason:  "I was in all day and I never saw you doing my windows" - If you can show them what time you were there, they suddenly remember they'd had to pop ouot for a half hour to pick up little Johnny from the kindergarten - funny how these things slip their minds sometimes ;D

I just cannot believe you would not have phone number on paper work or van or avoid been contacted. It just amazing your cannot be a business never mind a professional.I always ask myself what would Jonh Lewis or M&S do so aften I do not want to bee in there in there business. But I want to be as professional.
As far as puting time on a invoice. I think its not needed .The reason I would not The poeple I service are my customes not my boss and there for they do not need to know at what time I was there just that I have been there.By putting on time you are seeding power to your customer and will get more poo from them.If the custimer wanted to question my time. It would be questioning my integraty and I would not stand for that. I would tackfully explane this to them.If they cannot trust me then I am afraid to end of relationship.
( sorry for typos typing in the dark)
