Quick Release Coupling Problem
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:11:20 pm »
Hi members,your opinions here thanks.
I use the same quick release couplings
That Gardiners supply for their 4 to 6 millimeter
Hose.I find they soon seem to take a lot of
Attaching, loads of pressure needed to make the
Connection.A quick spray of WD 40 or similier
Sometimes does the trick, but dos`nt last long.
Ya not supposed to do or need to do this anyways
Really.Whats the reason?
Detaching no problem by the way.
On these cold wet icy days it`s a right `pain`fiddling
Around with the blighters.!

these are the very reasons I dont bother with them. I know many swear by these couplings but I think theyre rubbish, sorry !

I use Gardena hoselock style connectors and find them very durable, dont leak and far less fiddly especially in the cold, they just need to be adapted to fit microbore with a short length of 1/2 " hose and a barbed reducer.

I used an end stop connector with a tap but recently bought one of these instead as the lever is alot bigger and usuable with gloves on. Its also removable so saves it getting dragged along the floor when packing away

I've used the metal quick release fittings for a few years now.  Never have problems but i do treat them with respect.  I also give them a good rinse every so often and smear silicon grease over them - particularly the male fitting and then push it in and release it a number of times (ooh err missus!).

Lewis why do you write all that garbage on EVERY post about being a blade runner (whatever a balde runner is). If you want to be thought of as something from Star-Wars why dont you put it in your signature, save writing it every time?

Hi Ewan, yes I think it is that series Rectus coupling.
Also I think it maybe the PSI that has something to do
With it.I`m gonna try a couple of things to try and eradicate
This problem.

Hi Matt,is that oakay for ya then?Just never got around to it,
Mainly because I prefer `Living Waters`.but that’s another
Story.Not too computer literate,only wish I was.

I keep them connected and just pull the hose out if i ever want to change pole.
AFter about 6 months the hose gets a bit leaky, just trim an inch off and start again.
