Having looked at the performance stats on both of the machines in question, does anyone have any info on why i shouldnt go for the rhino?...it seems to be 3-400 pounds cheaper and has 50% more solution capacity....cheers Neil (spa clean)

Reasons why you should not have one

I dont know who sells them any more or where you can get spare parts. But I need to look into this
They are available mainly in America I think.
Heavy
I wouldnt say they are a brand name so you will get lots of people saying they are Crap - I think they are great.

Can I ask where you are going to purchase or can purchase one from?

Hi mate....thanks for the prompt reply. In answer to your question cleansmart are still advertising them according to their website. I was just trying to keep costs down to start with then maybe upgrade later.....the 12 gallon capacity and twin 3 stage vacs just looked good spec for the money really......Neil

I'm not qualified to recommend one machine over another, but I feel that dave has given an honest and excellent viewpoint.

I would add though that for any portable machine with an adequate working capacity, if a job demands, lets say 12 buckets of water, in real world terms, it doesn't matter if you fill/empty the machine once, twice or 4 times. For lower capacity machines, you will be filling/emptying whilst the next room is going through the dwell period of it's preparation, so no time is gained or lost with greater/lesser capacities.

Good point Ken...so why dont they just make portables with a 3-4 gallon capacity so as to be lighter and more compact....years ago i used the large twin vac numatic 902 and was always refilling and emptying...a right pain!! Neil

IMO Neil, 3 to 4 gallons is inadequate. For me a decent porty will have a minimum of 8 gallons (imp)/40 litres ie four buckets.

I don't know if you have noticed, but us CC's are like all the other boys for every other industry and profession in the country. We like big numbers! However, more doesn't always mean better.

What Pristine says about the Rhino is correct it is a good machine.

 But I posted about my rhino machine on here in December as i had a problem with the recovery tank splitting and could not find a replacement part from anyone in the UK, so you need to take that into consideration when you purchase and to be honest i dont think you can purchase them in the UK anymore but i could be wrong.

I wouldnt recommend running 100 ft hoses from a twin vac machine, i would have thought 50 the limit without loosing too much vac power.

I ran a powermax for a number of years - it was reliable ,compact and light.
Although not a patch on new generation portables its a good machine & as mentioned spares should be readily available.
Surely the Airflex range from Cleansmart would be worth a look.

Hi Neil,

I've been using a 500psi Rhino for about 6 months now. I bought it second hand from  Paul Simpson (from this forum). I believe he bought it as an ex demo model 3 years ago. Performance wise I can't fault it, the machine hasn't let me down once since I bought it.

I was looking at Ninjas at the time and dubiously purchased this Rhino with a view to putting the money I saved towards marketing. This has proved to be a good decision. My custys and I are very happy with the results I get from my machine.

The only downside with a Rhino is no pressure gauge so I would recommend getting one made up for about 60 quid and use it until you get the feel of the pressure adjuster. As for the maximum length of hose to use - I find I can run 75 ft comfortably but  only running at about 130 psi to get the desired results.

In 6 months time I'll be upgrading to an Airflex, purely because I aim towards the mid to high end of the market and my machine needs to look the part aswell as perform well and the Rhino is starting to look a little jaded.

When I purchased the machine, it clearly stated you could use 75 feet of hose without any loss. It sucks like hell. I have had 100 feet of hose on and it still good.

I dont need to use 100 feet, but I have tried it. It was fine. I do use 75 feet all th time. with Great results!

Dont knock it until you actually try the Rhino as you dont know.

I have used twin vac machines for years and would never use over 50ft, if your getting good results, well done mate.

Fiddled with it for couple of weeks with no joy Paul. My father in law who is a sparky got it sorted and it's been working ever since. It gives good heat matey.

Rhino vs Powemax    i'v  used both, had a 500psi rhino for a while, great machine but as a single operator machine i would never buy one again. it's just too big and heavy. I found it was a full days work just getting it on and off the van.
