I am looking for information on airless paint sprayers. I have no idea about this field but am looking to buy one. has anyone any experience.

I don't have a clue but want to utilise one for roof coatings. Can you get a self cleaning one. What is the best of the range. Are they stand alone units or do they need power.

Any advice is better than nothing

A friend of mine is a contract painter and decorator, he uses an airless sprayer for spraying allsorts like large industrial units

This one was in Sittingbourne as had had a fire and he sorted it - I'll ask him tomorrow and get some details for you

The whole refurb bandwagon should be kicking in there, if it hasn't already - so there will be a lot of shiney vans and expensive gear. They'll have full caravans by the time I get there.

At this rate i wont be getting there!!!

I do have good security but if it is worth pinching it can be pinched, at least I know where to go to get it back

yes we use a graco 495 with 50 mtrs of hose,it isnt self clean and you have to prime before using and switch to prime after youhave used,also you need to service them each time as to not clog it up with older paints!!what paints are you thinking of using?we use kingfisher!!best you can get,also you will need to use 19mm-23mm tips to avoid clogging up!!check bearings constantly etc,if you want any further info,just get intouch...also have you ever done this type of work before i.e washing roofs,repointing,bedding ridges,changing tiles,treating with anti fungal and actualy spraying as it aint as easy as it looks,steve )

The last roof I did was on a £2000 000 mansion and the one before that was 40 000sqm. I understand what is required

wow was only replying to your post were you was saying you didnt know what was required???but as you have just stated you have done a 2000 000 mansion and 40,000sqm roof??(how much ya charge for that,as we'd charge about 28 sqr mtr==1,120,000 mill???to wash and spray),so why ask for advise if you apparently have used them before??lol

chill steven robs washed them he hasnt coated yet i think he dont know much about the airless sprayers not the pressure washing!!!

Thanks Richie - Spot on there!

A 50m hose will not come close on some of my works, the pressure washer lances are expected to work upwards of a 120 metres from the pressure washer.

I had to leave a side of a store roof in Cobham because we could find no access that could boom us 70 metres down the side of the store, to the mid point (at one point they were going to hire in a crane and man basket)

I have resolved this issue with a one of a kind head unit.

My clients would never allow an outfit to put a roof ladder up and work from that, these are massive refurb projects that are governed by some of the hardest health and safety requirements but also I would not on a domestic or industrial/commercial work allow myself or anyone else to be in danger.

I have seen how the competition operate and that will not be the way I will be operating. I am fortunate to have commercial roof cleaning experience and I am aware of every aspect of pressure washing. The only thing I am unsure of is what machine to buy and what the capabilities of the equipment is in relation to my requirements.

I spend days and days on various procedures before I make a start on a new venture, I have three ongoing at the moment and this one is priority.

I will see what BDCS comes back with and then speak to suppliers. Over a million pound for a roof clean & colour I wish you well!!!. How many roofs of that size have you dealt with?

steves my good friend rob hes just got ya post wrong he thought u meant u had been doin roof coating for years and knew all about it, i think he thought you meant you had cleaned and coated the 40,000 sq mt roof not just cleaned it!!!

im going to push my business more for the commercial side this year what sort of qualifications do i require to get into the sort of work you do as im gettin a little fed up with the domestic window cleaning i dont really like chasing round after 10-20pounds etc i find it a bit tedious id prefer to work on bigger projects and be on one site.

id be happy to come along and help out with some of your work to build up my experience if you have any work round the north west  or midlands etc.

I have spoken to him and he rates greco , his is a digital, self cleaning and comes to bits easily. he said they also do a petrol powered version that will run 3 guns as its more powerful

Minimum for my works is a full IPAF PAL license and CSCS card. I don't know about how you get the work though, I had a website offering various services, someone saw it, I met their requirements and now into the 4th year of fully commercial operations it is looking like we will be working on other refurb programmes.

I want the roof cleaning & colouring service for  cash flow purposes.

You've been down to my unit - nothing to look at really but If the client calls me up to take care of a job wherever, I am set up to go at the drop of a hat and able to make maximum profit because I don't have to add on accomodation etc.

The clients like people who are willing to work hard. I work hard, very hard!. I don't earn a fortune but I will do. Here's my thinking.

If I earn 50 pence profit every hour per man but I have 100 men then I am doing alright!!

I dont want to earn £500.00 per hour and only get a bit of work, every now and then I want little and often and I think this year it is going to start paying off .

Quality will always shine through but you cannot make someone have your service. I cannot give you the answer but if I could I would be keeping it to myself!!!

cheers rob il be looking at doin the ipaf and cscs in near future they have quite a few gracos and titans on ebay specialist airless sprayer dealers that can talk you thru evfin. ya dont need any better than the 495 or 595 really.

its all about trial and error isnt i suppose iv not set out to make loadsa money in first few years anyway im just gna see wat works n wat doesnt get me fingers in a few pies the more you can offer the more work ya can get coming in i suppose.

Dont knock the £20.00 jobs they all add up to a decent wage and they can get you where you want to be. I was at the point where I hated residential window cleaning when I sold up but sometimes I miss the instant cash.

I can earn a lot more now but I also have to wait a lot longer to get paid!!!

Having width to your service will bring more money in - if marketed properly and if you have a client that wants more services. I don't mind sitting on kit that isn't being used as long as I am busy with at least one service buut I am also now in the position where my main income is helping me to diversify into completely different areas.

I started off last year with one client - if it goes wrong I have nothing at all. Now I have two clients, at the same level, I have just had a discussion with another interested party who wants to start using our services. There are two more interested parties who have shown interest in the service and as soon as they get works we should be in.

I have not worked since December 6th last year and if I start work tomorrow will not see any invoices paid till March. I am not working tomorrow because of the current weather situations.

well bear me in mind if ya need to sub sum work out i will be doing those courses n exams in march/april time need to just have a couple of months continuous work and get up to date b4 i take days off for courses etc
