Condensation
« on: January 08, 2010, 12:17:36 pm »
Since fitting the van out with wfp system the van has been suffering with condensation, even with heater in the back.

Anyone else got this problem?

No I had it too untill I put Rockwool on the ceiling behind some ply. Dunno if its still there but I cant see it any more. It's probably just rotting my van now from the inside out!

I have a mushroom vent in the back of my Vito dual-liner and i have NEVER had any problems with condensation.........................untill this cold snap hit england and i blocked the vent to try and keep the heat in the back of the van with using a heater at night
now i have to put a dehumidifier in the back of my van untill we get the big thaw and my van can breathe again

Its the heater in the van thats causing the condensation on the cold roof.

I have a vent on my roof of my Transit,it's not a mushroom one though but still a vent that spins around but does'nt stop condensation,I put a bucket of salt in the back for slippery surfaces when I'm done cleaning windows and noticed I have no condesation anymore, the salt seems to attract the moist air even when my heater is in operation,a very cheap alternative to buying a mushroom vent ;) ;) :)

This time of year its inevitable, cold vehicle ----------> moist air inside ----------> condenstaion.

Look at your kitchen windows this time of year compared to the summer.

Since Ive been leaving a heater in the van overnight on frost setting its got rid of it over the course of about 3 nights.

So does salt absorb the condensation?
I might try leaving an open bag of my water softener salt in the van then.
