business marketing / getting work

What method works best for you?

When i first started i was just posting flyers on local housing estates.

I got a good response from this.

When i started going out in the countryside, i was door to door canvassing. And people that werent in i posted flyers, i have never had a callback from these flyers.

I think door to door canvassing has worked best for me

Hi,

All my round has been built on leaflets,

when i canvassed (door knocked)... i felt a little undermined, like i was begging for work, and some had the attitude of .." i will try you if you are cheap enough".....

or " may give you a go if you are better and cheaper than my current w/c."

I did not like that,

When i leaflet dropped, the phone would ring and that person actually wanted a window cleaner, so it was on my terms at the right price,

its a slower process but  i gained better work.

but they do say on this site, that door knocking is the best way forward.

but its not the way for me.

 ;)

Like Gazza my round has been built on lealets alone...when someone rings they want a w/c generally.

Dropping leaflets from my experiance has around 0.5% success rate...but in 3 years we have a pretty good round wih good prices...so for us it's been good.

Cheers
Dave.

i use yell.com £200 per year, got a lot of work off that, and google maps (free) and gumtree (free) i link gumtree to google and am quite high in the listings that way, door knocking is the best though, leafleting you only get 2-3% call backs, best to speak face to face.

i find as well to clean them on the day you speak to them, because the amount of people who cancel or wont pay you afterwards just wastes your time.
