« on: January 07, 2010, 11:34:11 am »
i got stuck 3 times yesterday in my van (truckmounted). Had a nightmare on some roads and got stuck trying to get off a drive.
Decided to cancell todays work just in case and rearranged to next week, luckily the customers were all fine tho. shame as next week is really busy and needed the money  ???
anyone managed to get out to clean or you all in thesame boat?

I got stuck yesterday outside my own house !

Fed up with snow now. I cancelled 3 jobs before xmas, so I ended up being off for 2 weeks over the holidays, which was nice, but now I am going stir crazy and I need to work.

No chance of getting anywhere today so I've now got 3 days of jobs to catch up on which means postponing some of next weeks.

My van has not moved since Sunday (I dont have a car), and Sunday was an OK day weatherwise.
-11 degree in Warrington last night. Everything is now crunchy underfoot and solid on the roads.
The van was warmer then the house this morning.

Tomorrows job cancelled by client - hes having a log burner intsalled in 3 weeks so he thought it better to have carpets cleaned after that.
I asked how bad was it where he lived and it takes him ages to get off his farm yard, so I am glad he postponed.

Parked on a slightly sloped drive just before Christmas. Whilst inside looking at the job, the van slid back around 9 feet coming to a rest against the metal/concrete gate post. Did more damage trying to get it off the thing.
My insurance were going to drop my no claims from 12 years back down to 3 years which meant my next premium would increase by over £800. Getting it sorted privately for £400.

Got stuck in my car yesterday on a car park.  It was covered in compacted snow which was very slippy.

Hi Guys

I got stuck in my TM several times before Xmas and have been much more cautious this week.

Did the first 2.5 days but have now rearranged into next week, may still work Sat.

I am fairly relaxed about it but would like to get working properly again soon.

Cheers

I went out to do one job today as it was a must but when I went to teh property the road was jut thick ice and I had to advice the customer that I could get the van close enough, but he wasn't very happy, will he pay for my new clutch when I burn it out or pay my insurance increases? only an £80 job.

Twice

I've also slipped and fallen twice-the second time I banged my head and elbow big-time. Wasn't really planning to work this week but have put back a couple of jobs which I had already pre-qualified about the weather.

I'm really in no rush whilst it's so slippy/dangerous/slow to go to work.

Good job I've got enough pennies to see me through.

The thing that makes it worse is the fact that most athorities have little or no salt left.

I'll be using the Discovery for a job down the Lizard, there's no way I'm taking the Combo out on those roads!

Bet your well stuck up there Mark.
Job takes twice as long in this weather anyway trying to avoid trailing snow in
and loading and unloading carefully to avoid slipping.

I haven't been to work all week. Really bored. I tried to get up to he unit to load the van and almost got stuck on Tuesday. I took a walk up there today with the dog an the road is like a skating ring. I have to go there to fill up TM tank so pretty stuffed at the moment.

Result of the pre xmas snow was it took over an hour to travel the final 200 yards through the estate to the house, so I've not been willing to risk that again or worse with this snow fall.
Only just managed to catch up with those jobs cancelled before xmas and then this lot came out of the sky.
Going stir crazy and not helped by the phone going dead because no-one is going to try and book a clean that is unlikely to happen.

On the plus side all the required painting is now just about done. The websites have had plenty of attention to the areas that needed sorting and the commercial marketing letters have been printed and sent
