Changing my round
« on: December 28, 2009, 12:10:20 pm »
Hi,

I know this may sound a straightforward question,

but i am taking all this week off for 2 reasons.

one is obviously for the xmas break, the other is so i can sort my round out.

my round is scattered, where i have a bunch of calls in one area, then i drive to anothere area, to clean another bunch of calls and so on...

the reason my round is like this , is because i built it mostly on leaflet drops, and i cleaned any house instantly as soon as the phone rang... so i would not lose the customer.

but now i am finding that instead of going to areas and cleaning them all together, i am going backwards and forwards, here there and everywhere because of the time and day they are due.

hence its driving me mad.

now is the time for me to bring call forward, ..be late on other calls etc... in order for me to organise the round...

but how would you guys do this on the george programme, it looks so time consuming.?

would it be better to print out my whole round and then scrutinise it, then one by one change all the input dates?

Thanks for any help.

i would group together one by one custys in the same areas and put them roughly in ur 4 week round from 4th jan.itll take u a few hours if uv got 300+ custys(like me!).then print out 1 week worksheet and go through ur round in the same order A-Z roughly.

i always print out a 5 day work sheet for the week ahead and work through it the best i can.then at the end of each day i tick off the ones ive cleaned/payed etc.takes me 10 mins.at the end of the week any that ive not cleaned i print out on the next weeks worksheet.simple!i have to juggle the odd 8 weekly that come up on different weeks to certain areas so they are cleaned at the same time if i get behind but its not too much trouble to sort out!

My round is spread over 10 or so towns/villages.  In George I have created a round for each town/village or two rounds where there is too much work for one day.  To do this in George create the round names and then for each account amend the detail to select the new round you want to assign the job to. Most of mine are 4 weekly and then I try and balance 8 weekly on alternate 4 weekly schedule.

thanks ,

i guess i will have to do the time consuming re-grouping , but i guess it will be worth it, and free up more time for developing...and make me more money  ;D

thanks.

my round use to be a bit like this, in the end i printed 20 days worth of blank sheets off and numbered them 1 - 20  then marked each day with a village, ie st dennis, st stephen,  then just fill each day up with jobs, till that day was finished then moved rest on to next day  ie i got 2 streets in st dennis, that take 2 and half days, so they fill up day 1, 2, 3  then day 4 goes to st stephen,  now i know where i am on any given day of the month,  i found it easier to write it down before on i put it on a computer becasue i found it easier to work out and if i need to change any thing , just meant moving a bit of paper,

just go out and do the round to your new sheets,  most custys wouldnt even notice the time difference

Thats a good idea , thanks i will do this today i think... what do you mean you printed 20 blank sheets tho?

do you mean you write them all in order on blank sheets first?

Hi everyone, festive greetings and all that.

Need some advice....

Have been using Round tracker V4 for a bit, and it's a bit fiddly. Was wondering if anyone has used it and is now using George or vice versa.

Basically I want to know whether it's worth spending the £50 and moving to George?

I don't use George myself but you can download a free, time limited trial I think.  Hopefully that would give you an idea of whether or not you want to pay for it.
