Shurflo pumping probs..!
« on: December 11, 2009, 02:20:50 pm »
Hi guys - well i'm looking to see if anyone can shed some light on a problem i am having with me pump.!

I have a 100 PSI shurflo and a varistream controller ( dial version not digital ) and the remote on/off key fobs,

All has been well until today on a 1st clean, when turning up the flow i can only get halfway before the pump continually cuts in and out (3 seconds run - 1 second off etc.. )  low flow all ok altho the green light can blink..

i took out the remote on/off - no difference -  then took out the varisteam and put the on/off back in so the pump should run 100% - it will run but again low flow if you turn the brush so the jets face up the water rises about 4 inches into the air -  pathetic,

Also the remote fails to turn the pump off, but if you manually turn the hose tap the pressure then cuts the pump out

when unwired the remote works ok -  so what the hell is wrong with it!! - can i repair or is it time for a new one  ???

the pump came with the van so don't know age of it.

Cheers
Darran

It sounds like a blockage.
Check whether you have full flow to the pump by taking the pipe from the tank off the pump. Either let it run or blow back up the pipe to check for blockages. If this is OK then take  the pipe off the outlet from the pump and switch the pump on. If you have a decent flow put your finger over to restrict the opening and see if you have decent pressure and not just flow. If that it OK then take the pipe off the brush and see what flow you have there.
Try all this with the variflow on max.
Without hands on it is difficult to say for certain.

Hope this helps  Trevor

HI Trevor,

Thanks for that i will check out the flow into the pump - i recently changed from a 250 to 400 ltr tank and got a couple of air locks but got them out.

initially i took the pipework back to the pump outlet and it ran fine - then added the 2 mtr hose to the reel - all ok then the 100 mtr and thats when the problem re-appeared - checked the hose, all clear,  but now just rubbish flow straight from the pump.
