« on: December 08, 2009, 08:29:36 pm »
Does anyone use a Solar Panel on their vehicle to Trickle Charge a battery whilst out and about?

If so, where did you purchase it from? And what type is it?

May I ask how big these panels of yours are  please? I ask as I have seen some on ebay that are 835 X 540  producing 60w (3.3amp according to the spec) which are too big to be portable and they want £149.00 each for them. At £149.00 I can't see a solar panel paying for itself.

Something smaller 350 x 285 only produces 10w (0.56amps according to their spec) and this will never recharge a battery used the previous day on WFP IMO.

have a search though the old posts on this

mine is fairly small and suckercups to the side windows of my van

how i do it is like this

battery a starts the week in use
battery b starts it on charge

after 2 / 3 days i change them over

at the weekend they are charged in the van, thus i start the week with 2 batteries charged
