add on carpet cleaning
« on: December 06, 2009, 09:00:09 pm »
looking to add on this service and seeking advice from anyone on here that does this.
we already nearly 400 accounts so think this would be a good service to offer.
been looking at the prochem range (the 5 star) or the (galaxy) any good?
Also is leasing better than buying when starting out? 11 pound per week seems a very good deal.
                         any input welcome  Dave.

Training is essential,.. gaining custom is slow, equipment & chems are expensive,.. everyone has wooden floors now.

If you can, go for a 2nd hand truckmount rather than a porty,.. if you have to go porty the a Scorpion is the most powerful, A rhino is a budget one, and lots of ppl recommend the Mytee speedster. I like the look of the Airflex machine, but I've heard nothing about it yet:

I also do windows and carpets and so far it worked well i bought the machine on line , went to cleansmart in Nottingham for training at the moment Ive only been telling customers i have with window cleaning and they have passed my number on to people, the machine has now payed for it self so now the money from the carpet cleaning im saving for a bigger machine. Im very pleased i have add this service but i have not pushed myself with it this year as im still building up my window cleaning round but next year im going to spend alot of time pushing the carpet cleaning

better off asking the pros in the CC section. (if you haven't already)

marketing a carpet cleaning business is much harder than window cleaning. Be careful you get the proper training and you know what you are doing, one mistake and it could cost your reputation for your window cleaning business too.

Im also a carpet cleaner for the last 10 years i added Pure Water Window cleaning to my arsenal nearly 2 years ago

All i can say is its nice not to have all your eggs in one basket

BUT like GWCS says its all about training
I went down the IICRC route for training and qualifications and i cannot reccomend IICRC enough
there is also the NCCA for training

AND iF  your buying a machine theres often lots of QUALITY good second hand machines on this very forum

I bought a barley used cleancraft ECLIPSE to replace my old extracta machine and i paid just over 900 for it i think it was a real steal

Its also handy doing Carpet and Upholstery cleaning as a bolt on for when its raining and its too wet to do any windows!
