Is it me
« on: November 09, 2009, 06:20:55 pm »
Is it me or does pumps slow down in the cold weather,I have recently fitted a brand new 100 psi Shurflo pump to my system as the last one had had it,however I am using the Pure Freedom system and found today was freezing and the pump was rather slow, battery fully charged and even tried another battery to make sure,I am using a 10 amp fuse which is supplied with the system when I purchased it and even replaced that, what amp fuse do you guys suggest to use with a 12 volt battery,it has been fine upto now as when I went out today it was bitterly cold and the pump is not pumping the usual amount,it's on the same dial on thre controller but was wondering does the cold have any effect on the output,by the way my Freedom trolly seems to have a faster output on the same dial on normal days,is this because I am not using 100 meters of hose like I do on my  van mount, thanks in advance :)

if the pump has a pre filter this may have become slightly blocked try cleaning it and see if that makes any difference

Water is denser in colder weather so it’s pumping a substance that’s more solid. Makes sense dont it.Because of this fact pump  will strain a bit.

I thought the inline fuse was just there in case theres a short of some sort. ( crossing the black wire with the red)

Not sure if it matters what size it is?

Is your battery fully charged, cos if it it aint your green light will dim, and the controller starts to make a slurring noise.

Sorry if it sounds patronising, you prob know all this already.

Yes,thats fine, the water just seems to be coming out alot slower than usual on the same setting, maybe just the cold weather, the battery is fully charged and no kinks etc.,must be the cold.

Hi
Added to that is the battery also gets more sluggish with each degree the temperature drops.
