Regarding grit...

Firstly the issue is two fold. One, we are not used to using a 22' (in my case but possibly 25+ in others )as a downstairs pole, with far longer pole hose trailing on the floor when the pole is compact. And secondly the tolerances between sections are smaller to aid rigidity, so any dirt or grit that does get in causes problems.

The simplest solution...

With the pole collapsed coil the pole hose around your left hand and elbow. You should leave about two foot free from the tap and about four foot from the pole base.Holding the coil wrap the hose three times around it's middle. Then using some remaining free hose pull a loop through the top half of the coil.Place this loop around your neck and the pole house will stay in place and crucially off the floor and tangle free for the duration of your task. To release pole hose to extend the pole, remove loop from neck, pass loop back through coil, unwind the three middle retaining wraps, and allow the hose to go free.

A hose tidy does a similar job, but with the hose tidy you are carrying the weight of the hose on the pole which defeats the object of a lighter pole.

Sorry, my hose from the reel is attached to me by a harness so the tap is always to hand. I forgot that some people have this on the floor. So obviously my solution only applies if you already have the pole hose and tap attached to yourself, which i assumed, wrongly as it turns out, that everybody did.

LOL, maybe there should have been some R&D with this pole.

Hanging yourself, slumpbuster shouldn’t be an option.   ;D

Thats quite funny actually, non-racist humour, I like it!  ;D

I'm using the SLX with pole hose sited externally.  It can get in the way a bit but generally seems to be working and certainly helps with the grit situation.  However, I find it better to use the pole hose that is slightly fatter than the one supplied as it can push onto the Y-piece a bit more forcefully.  This seems to be more important when using hose externally IMO as it's easier to tread on the pole hose and yank it off the Y.  More care is needed but it does seem to be a workable solution (so far).
Indeed, when I am using the SL-X on a long run of windows, it's even possible to use the bottom clamp as a pole hose holder - so long as the next section doesn't need to be extended of course (I have the old allen key clamps).
