[Sapphire Window Cleaning]

Hi I have just bought a shurflo pump to use as a booster pump.
is it normal for the pump to pulsate on and off, its not going through a flo controller.
Any help would be appreciated.

i have a 100psi flojet and using that as a booster pump at min it dont pulse on and off tends to run quite smoothly

Could the pulsating just be air within the system?

i wouldnt of thought so the pump should be pushing enough pressure through to push any air lock out easily,i might b wrong but dont think so

I have just tried turn the waste pipe on flow and the pump runs continiously but the water absalutely flys out, before fitting the booster pump I checked the flow was right, what comes out of the waste pipe is waste.
I am really baffled by it.

and if you turn the flow down it starts pulsing again?

yes, when i shut the waste tap off so i can fill the tank the pump pulsates, it may be a pressure realted problem but I'm not running it through a controller.

mine aint running a controller either what about if the flow is on half?

If the flow is turned on half I may as well not bother with the pump.

you got to have some flow for the ro to work properly though

When I was using my 200GDP without the pump, I had the tap turned fully off flow, so the waste was at its minimum.

if you dont have a flow across the membraines it wont work properly and will also burn out membraines a hell of a lot quicker to,

I always thought the waste tap was a diversion from the tank so when you turn the waste tap on, the flow into the tank is restricted and vice versa.

it has to flow over the membrane to wash away all the dirt chemicals the the membranes take out to make the water pure, if you turn the wast off were is the bad stuff going?it stays on your membrane hence the membraine burns out very quickly

even with the waste tap shut off there is still a small flow coming out of the waste pipe, more like a trickle.

a trickle is no good its got to have a good flow to wash away the waste,or your damaging the ro,i wasnt happy with my 720 gpd ro i had only thing adding a booster did was make the water purer didnt make it faster at producing it,so i changed to a 4040 now that is faster but still produces a lot of waste water

I have upgraded today from a 200GPD to a 500GPD RO, I am currently at my girlfriends house in Essex which has a very poor water mains pressure, so I thought the pump would make to run as fast if not faster than when I fill up in Leicester which has very good water pressure.

Are you using the 100 psi pump with small JG pipes on your RO ?

I did the same and mine was pulsating, turns out it was too much pressure for the small JG pipes and split filter housings after a while.

How did you get around it?
Did you use JG fittings so you can attach 1/2 inch house to the filter housing?

I stopped using it after it cracked the third and final spare housing. I emailed RO-man about it and got the specs of the booster pump they used to sell (the dont and havent stocked them for a while)
