For what it's worth I think you tried your darnedest to keep them happy and it took some bottle to share this experience with the forum. As said by many move on and don't take it to heart, just learn any lessons that can be learned.

Yes steer clear of steep steps covered in moss!
Sorry Colin

Personally I would give it up, I know it;s been £120 hard earned but if they were to take you to court it could get messy.

I would only give a refund if i admitted liability, and as i see this matter then i would not.

I am working for a regular client on Friday who happens to be a solicitor and I mentioned my predicament to him. He's very eager to draft a letter  to "Scare" them off so to speak and to be honest, I'm having sleepless nights about the whole thing and would much rather draw closure to the whole damn fiasco.

I've just rang the disatisfied customer and made it clear that I am "Not" accepting responsibility, however as a good will gesture, I will offer a £50 settlement. He's accepted and said he never wanted a whole refund anyway. I feel really relieved now and feel that I can carry on as normal and might even celebrate with a bottle of red wine tonight.

Well done Colin for putting this on here....Technically it was a "free" clean, so what is there to refund?? Its easy to say but its not worth the agro. It sounds like they are the type that try it on all the time, and it was your turn. Put it down to experience give them the refund and put it all behind you. Chin up ;D

Colin,

Why don't you start buying you cleaning solutions and sundries from solutions and hydramaster?

They are both local to us and you would have had immediate technical support right on your doorstep, possibly you could have got one of them to chat with the customer and tell them how it really is! I know that both Nick and John will bend over backwards to support their customers.

Also, you could have called me, there are not to my mind any expert carpet cleaners down your end so wonder who it could have been.

Next time you have something like this happen call me and i will do what i can to help.

Cheers Goron

Love to know who the " expert " was ! If an inspection was made there must be a report and a recommendation !

Goron.....

Thanks very much for that, I actually wondered whether they would have got you to inspect the work when they used the word expert ???

I still have piles of random cleaning solutions (Extracta products, Alltec Chems and copious amounts of ProChem) I hardly have any room left in the garage for more chems, but I am using HM more and more and do have a fair bit of their stuff.
