Stains on cream carpet
« on: September 17, 2009, 11:40:53 am »
Hello
can anyone help please as we have recently started our own carpet cleaning business & we are having problems with large orange.brown stains on a cream carpet (See attached pic). Presprayed using Eco-friendly Microsplitter, agitated with Envirodri, used CFR500 ECO to clean & then used CFR spot & stain remover, but still no luck. Any help would be most welcome? Many thanks Glynis

Have you asked the owner what has caused the stains?
and have they treated the stains themselves?
Do you know what the makeup of the carpet is?

Hello Joe/Mark Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately it is a rental property & the landlord is unable to establish what the stains are or if the previous tenant used anything on them. The carpet is a wool/nylon mix. No pets/animals in house & also no smokers. They appear to have been in the area of a settee & we wondered if tea/coffee had been spilt & previous tenants had tried to clean up, but they are quite large areas...Thank you again. Best wishes Glynis

Hi

As it is a EOT property and they were by the sofa, I would maybe go with food dye (gravy etc)

If it is then you are pretty much doomed, you could try and spray of Bio Logical washing Liquid (1 cap full of persil in a 500ml spray bottle, agitate in and leave for 5 mins) this contains enzymes and may break down the stain, but if it a food dye then nothing will work.

Sometimes I just go to the other end of the ph scale and stuff comes straight out. Some urine neutraliser neat. Failing that try some citrus gel. failing that for EOT say it won't come out. ;)

Practice on bit of old carpet with different stains and products in your own time.

Sometimes, after trying your best, you just have to say.....  the stain will not remove, but the carpet is clean.
but it may be best to tell them that before you start.
I advertise "stain treatment" - not "stain removal" - for a reason as stated above.
Put into their minds what they might expect.
If then, you are sucessful then you look good in their eyes.

Looking at your pics  they dont look cream :-\  more like brown, perhaps its just the picture, if how ever the carpet is infact cream , as a last resort go for sodium/ meta   this should do the trick especialy on a cream carpet.

geoff

best bit of advice you will have all week. never promise removal or i am afraid you own the stain then. treat each stain to its correct advantage thats the best you can do. win some you lose some.
