E-Bay bargain
« on: August 29, 2009, 08:25:43 pm »
Just picked this up today - a Cimex R38, never been used - retails at £1400 + vat.

I paid £ 125  !!

Gonna cost me approx £ 150 for water tank and 3 scrub brushes, then I'm up and running and able to encap for under £ 300 with a brand new machine.

A bargain off e-bay for a change.

Could not agree more! When you get the other parts can I borrow it for a demo? Where’s the dog better looking than the machine ;)

with it being the smaller of the 3 models, perhaps more suitable for domestic jobs too.

and you got a lot of pads - worth a few bob.

Well done

No you don’t I offered not for gain! From Joe’s knowledge think it would have fitted the bill on job today spot cleaning an area of 5500sqm (seems to be the norm now on my contracts) now to price up

Just the one Clinton.

The story is that a firm bought it new to clean their own floor, never used it - its still got foam protectors on the lugs underneath - and then the boss instructed the staff to dump it !!

One of the staff asked if her son could sell it on e-bay to get a bit of cash as he and his wife were starting a family.

Just won a commercial contract for £300 per month for the next year, so this will fit the bill perfectly.

if anyone is interested, theres an extra wide victor 470 (470mm) upright commercial vac on ebay.these have 850w vac motors like most commerical uprights but the brush motor is a bit more powerful than ur average sebo bs36. worth a look if you live nearby..

bargain Steve,

you will re coup your money with in 2- 3 hrs work

I was considering bidding myself , but decided to stick with my r48 , having said that the pads and brushes would have been use full ;), to be honest I,m not a lover of the pads I find the brushes cope better.

one word advise stay away from procap in this machine and go for the cimex solutions, and a quick demo at any commercial contact will get you the job.

Thanks Geoff

Could you run through the cleaning proceedure ?

I assume its pre-vac, scrub and then re-vac ............ but how long usually does the solution take to dry before you can vac up ?

Also which solution do you prefer and at what dilution rates ?

Cheers

Steve,

I have yet to go back to a job to post vac, when surveying i stress to the custy of the importance of this part of the process , i ask on what regularity the floors are normally vacuumed and by whom, usually they will have in house cleaners and if it is not on their schedule to vac every day they will make a point of ensuring it is done the next day, although a pre vac is often done before i get there ,I do prevac myself.
I would suggest sticking to cimex encap solution, but do wish others were available dilution rate 16 -1
often a good idea to add a water softner tablet if in hard water area. the optimum results are achieved by creating a thin even layer of foam , this is achieved by pushing forward realisng the fluid and pulling back over the area just covered at a slow walking pace, to slow and to much foam is created, on area,s not badly soiled you can release the solution in bursts pulling the trigger on and off there fore saving solution and money, this is not cutting corners it is recommended by cimex , in badly stained areas do not be tempted to add more solution, simply go over the area with dry passses and for bad spots etc cimex do have an encap spotting solution, pretty good too.

normaly the carpet is ready for a vac the next day, this gives the chance for the chrytalisation and encapsulation to work.
Hope this helps

Takes 90 minutes or less to dry.
Most operators will leave the post vaccing to the custys office cleaners.
The crystals are minute - cant see them in the carpet, but you can see the difference in the clean immediately.
You will pick up loads of tips here

http://www.encapboard.com/

I have used Chemspec Rotobrite 11 from John K, and Cimex Encap from Simon Collins who posts on here.

You Tube Cimex as well.

Be interesting to see some results.

How do you know how good a job it's done until it's hoovered up? I just don't like to think I just leave it without knowing the result. :-\

Mike ,
when you say you would like to see some results do a search , i have posted a number of pics in the past . as for seeing results  their is no need to go back the finished results , you will see immediately the effect, I can see the point you are making but a bit like saying you need to go back after you have h/w/e , because only the true results are seen when carpet completely dry, especially in t/l areas  these often look worse whilst still damp.

so in effect, your not actually taking away any soil at all, your just wrapping them in little parcels for the custy to hoover up?
just asking, not having ago.

Thats the theory

Geoff

Thanks for the info - I've got a couple of very large prospects that I am looking forward to doing a demo for, where HWE simply isn't an option.

Joe

Thanks, I will check that out.
