How to convert a fishing pole???
« on: August 25, 2009, 05:05:02 pm »
Guys i need advice on how its done? Ive looked on ebay and noticed that carbon fibre  fishing poles are quite cheep.
I wouldnt have a clue how to convert one to wfp though, for instance the fishing poles are seperate sections, could i buy clamps to make into a pole?
Also how would i screw the angle adaptor or gooseneck on the end?
If anyone out there can help me on this one i would appreciate it.
Heres one thats on ebay right now, could this be converted?

Don't buy any fishing pole. It has to be a carp pole with the highest rating. If you buy a roach pole it will waggle all over the shop. Don't stand on it either  ;)
No clamps involved.

hey iv got a maver fishing  pole ,i believe it was used for roach and it doesnt waggle at all.    i use it for trad cleaning  .iv labelled each section with a stripe so it only takes a few seconds to fit it all together .      i bought an 11metre pole but the last 2 bits are too thin ,so its about 9m. useable length

Thanks for that lads.
Had a look at the link Mike and im allready educated because i now know what a modular pole is and a telescopic.
Its a telescopic pole i need and it looks like you cant convert a fishing pole to a telescopic pole, never mind perhaps i can pick up a 34ft ish carbon pole  on the second hand market

Might have to be fiberglass ftp, finances are poo at the mo mate, i have a old 24ft pole at the moment and thats fine for your typical house but it wont reach town houses especially the ones with dormer windows that sit back a bit

i had one of those poles it was the first of my conversion, it was quite good wall thickness and it has kevlar cross weave for added strength, if i remember right it gave me a 26ft pole and lasted well till i ran over a section, the old style poles have a different rating system to the modern one, this would make a good starting pole.
