You need a 'host'.

search google for 'web hosting'. I wouldn't be surprised if 123reg do it.

Yup, they definitely do. Login to your 123reg account and there will be an option somewhere to host a website. This will probably be your best option unless you're a technically minded.

you definitely do NOT need a virtual server!  I use GoDaddy for my hosting.  There US based, but great prices on hosting.  Use code LINUX20 and get a 20% discount on hosting, or just code LINUX for a 10% discount on domain names etc

I am not affiliated with them in any way, just use and love them!

Well they are one of, if not the biggest domain name supplier in the world.  I have used them for commercial websites and never had a problem.  I wouldn't use their economy web hosting which is free, as its is supported by adverts.  I use the middle option, I use the "deluxe" one and its £47.04 per year (20% off makes it £37.64)

You can host unlimited sites on the one hosting plan (so if any of your friends or family buy a domain, they can host it for free on your plan)

I have never had a problem with them, but no doubt some have had a problem, big companies will not get everything perfect, so maybe jouk had a bad day, but then I've been sent wrong items from my favourite wfp supplier, and I stick with them!

I think the issues with GoDaddy is that they're such a large company they don't have the time/ can't be bothered to sort out any issues one customer is having. A smaller hosting company can be more expensive but you get better service usually if anything goes wrong. For example, I use a US host myself (Fluid Hosting) and get charged around £150 a year for hosting just 5 domains with them. However, I find their service second to none with responses to complicated issues handled and addressed within hours by competent and knowledgeable staff.

I use Godaddy for a lot of stuff but it's a big mistake to have non UK based hosting for local businesses.

You can do everything right on your site, have tons of one way links and STILL be underneath a UK hosted competitor. Goes without saying you need a .co.uk domain name as well.

if you get a non uk host you need to be sure you can get a uk ip address to host your site on, otherwise you will have problems with page rankings.

dont go with the cheapest go with the company that offer the best service and after care, within your budget!

Thanks

I used to have some 1&1 hosted sites when I first did a web site then found out they come up as German hosted sites. :(
