First time ever car has let me down today in over 16 months so not bad really.
Flat battery this morning got an electrical problem that is draining the battery.
Not a big job but they can't do it till Tuesday so long w/e for me.
Re - booked 2 jobs from today and 1 Monday and they were all sympathetic so not too bothered.

Yes it is.

Could have run wife to work and used hers but don't think machine will fit in and it doesn't look very
professional lifting it off backseat if it did fit.

sounds like the alternator's gone, but it could be as simple as one of the battery leads needing tightened

If it's the battery then the test for this is easy.
Charge it up and do a discharge test, you will need a battery discharger tester for it, or ALL garages should have one.
The DIY method for this is to charge it up then turn the headlights on full. They should stay illuminated for several hours, if that doesn't happen then it's a battery problem.
If it's a modern vehicle then if no charge is going to the battery then a dash light should show up.
If the battery is self discharging then clean off the terminals and the earth lead onto the vehicle body.
The above are just diy basic tests, of course the problem with modern vehicles could be a bit harder to find with all the electrically operated systems.

Thanks for that Neil.
The 2 cooling fans are running all the time and the red light on the temperature gauge is lighting up
even though the temperature is normal.
When I switch off ignition the fans keep going for about 10 mins after thus draining the battery.
Either a wiring fault or thermostat.
Guy at garage said not sure what but said it wouldn't take long to fix.
Goes in first thing Tues.
