If they said that to me they would get their (not mine) squeegee shoved up their arses (SIDEWAYS)!!!
Had one guy aged early 20's say that to me 4 years ago, just told him to EFF off my patch, as I had been cleaning windows since he was in Infant school. never had any trouble from anyone else. I usually chat to that guy on Friday mornings at the local snack van.

It should be an unspoken rule among WC`s that if you know someone does a particular job you don`t target that job,i wouldn`t like it although i personally wouldn`t feel threatened. If a customer came up to me and asked me i would quote but i wouldn`t knock if i new they had a WC.

but you dont know exactly which houses have window cleaners so you will always knock or drop flyers on someone elses work. it doesnt bother me if another window cleaner approaches my customers.

NWH I think with what Ken was saying about those kids is if a window cleaners has customers on a perticular road no other window cleaner should clean on that road.

Anyone that canvasses regularly will know that a street that doesn't have at least one window cleaner is extremely rare, many have two or three.
Even more rare is a window cleaner that cleans every house in the street. Many window cleaners hate canvassing or just can't be bothered, so if someone else picks up customers on their streets, fair play to them I say.

Surely if the customer is happy with service and price they aren't going to change are they?

I recently had a new window cleaner put leaflets through doors saying about their services and at the bottom in big letters it said "We will beat your existing window cleaners price by 20%"

I'm not worried but it did make me chuckle ;O)

possibly they will.

Prob is not everyone's service is the same, so for a few quid cheaper you could get a worse service.

Then they would have to ask the old window cleaner back, who will no doubt increase their charge OR not go back.

In general if people are happy then they will not change..
