Cold Calling
« on: June 17, 2009, 07:36:05 am »
I was interested to see how many of you do the following:

So how many of you actually cold call or have a team that cold call companies to obtain cleaning contracts?

Or do you out source it?

Do you just wait for the phone to ring or an enquiry from a website? If you let the calls come to you. How do you expect the business to grow?

Or do you purchase Leads to chase?

I was searching on the net for answers, not that I actually found an answer. Getting past the gate keeper, the killer question? Has anyone been to website in question and purchased the killer question that will get you in front of the decision maker. If you have I would be interested to know your thoughts.

Not that I have bought it, and I doubt I will. If I knew what the killer question was I would sell it for more than £30.00 a time.

I cant post a link, as it keeps being deleted each time I save it!

Hi

I would recommend you actually walk round places you'd like to clean and introduce yourself to the gatekeeper/receptionist and simply ask her/him for the name of the person you should write to.  Take her some biscuits or choccies (recruitment agencies do this a lot).

Then write to the person she recommends and when you call to follow up, you can say hi its Diane from bla bla (ask her if she/he enjoyed the biscuits/chocolates etc you left the other day).  Thank her again for being so helpful and tell her you sent a letter to bla bla as she recommended and would it be possible to speak to them to follow it up?

Works a treat :)

I got this tip from my former PA when I was an office manager, because I noticed that unlike most people who called, a particular recruitment agency always got put through and she told me why lol

Cheers
