There is a company from Burgess Hil ringing up LOADS of custys offering window cleaning, this isnt the problem but there now asking the custys what they currently pay and that they will be cheaper, this has hacked off a lot of the local lads, I know there contact details but not putting them on here as then theyll gets lots of hits to there site.

There a window cleaning company,

Although they might be giving their own business a quick fix, they're creating a problem for themselves in the longer term - as well as other W/Cers.  A fair bit of W/Cing involves the spirit of co-operation.  Remove that and it can start to get a bit silly.  There are people now - since the advent of WFP particularly - who are transferring methods from other businesses into W/Cing.  It had to happen eventually I suppose.  However, the problem being that most W/C businesses are one man bands or very small businesses.  Start undercutting the rates of enough very small businesses and getting the work and it starts to get very personal indeed.  I foresee trouble for that outfit if they encroach too far.  I wonder where they were when it was necessary to use ladders.  Crapping their pants at being two feet above the ground probably.
I acknowledge that with a recession, some of this stuff is inevitable.  It's the deliberate undercutting that is the problem - not the phoning.

Of course it is.  It just gets a bit more personal in a trade where nearly all the businesses are one man bands.  If it were possible to organise it, I would be happy to team up with 30 window cleaners and do the Burgess Hill company's work for £1 a house until they go broke.  It would only be a day a month each to almost sacrifice.  So I spend a day earning £15 or £20 along with 30 others.  Burgess Hill Co. goes broke.  Then put the prices up to what they should be.  Alternatively, they could leave other people's work alone.
Of course it wouldn't be realistic to organise this but maybe the threat of it could stop the toe treading.

I understand that but there will always be undercutting in window cleaning or any other business, if you stamp out one of them there will always be another that comes along.

The bit that annoys me and others is the asking the custy what tehy currently pay, this is wrong, what goes around comes around, so if i was to take that contract away from you thats in my area as i know the price would you say oh its alright its only business, i just wouldnt do it as id rather get my own work and price my own price.

What do you guys think of this

I had a leaflet through door a few days ago:

trad bucket and cloth window cleaning

1 bed: £5.50

2 bed: £6.00

3 bed: £6.50

4 bed: £7.50

Conservatories, price to be negotiated!  (yes exclaimation mark)

THE FULL CLEAN

windows, frames, conservatory
& conservatory roof

Prices starting from £20

I live on the South Coast where I think pricing is quite high. Oh and he offers grass cutting on same piece of paper.
