I expect this has been polled before, but not recently.  Of course other options exist and to save on space I've just generalised for these.

Thanks so far for the interest - please keep it rollin' !

I have a genuine objective for requesting this poll, that I'll share with you later on.  It's not just a casual enquiry.

Results so far are not really a surprise. Professionals want to do the best job possible, and regardless of innovation it still seems the best method.

I had a customer complaining about someone putting "Shake & Vac" type stuff down and it not making a pooe of difference to her living room carpet, all for £70.... She was extremely impressed by the results from HWE and even more impressed when I produced the bill for £45....

What would this "Shake & Vac" type stuff be? I've never looked into this method of carpet cleaning!

I'll stick to HWE for now :)

Colin

There are some franchises that just use the host system and still see some using it for main walkways in offices as a freshen up.

I started with the host system :)

i cleaned a house yesterday that had always used a shake and vac cleaner, he had it done a couple of months ago and decided he wasn't happy so called me in, showed him half and half and the guy was gobsmacked, he won't be having shake and vac again and was well impressed with the carpets being only slightly damp.
bedroom and a living room, shake and vac price £135
my price £80
say no more.

I used to use both HWE and Host and on one occasion at the customers request cleaned the stairs with HWE and the rest of the carpets with Host.
There was a marked difference in the apparent results as the stairs were much brighter than the rest of the carpets.
We used to explain that these sponges did not contain any optical brighteners in comparison to HWE chemicals and that in the short term HWE would appear to produce a better result and then quickly the brightness would fade away as the optical brightners lost there effect. But the carpets cleaned with the dry system would maintain there appearance for much longer. I don't remember whether this was on the advertising or on sales promotional stuff that came with the system.
I never had the opportunity to find out whether this was true.

I thought that if I had a host system too then I could offer options to the customer..... I think I'll go down the Texatherm road having seen that performance on the Youtube vid....

Hi

Calling us LM guys 'Shake & vac' is like calling HWE 'Steam Cleaners'. But if it makes you feel superior then fine.

Martin..

No disrespect intended Martin, please accept my humble apologies... The "Shake & Vac" reference was actually a quote from an ill informed custy. I'm sure you do a cracking job and I'm happy to admit I'm far from superior.....

Kind regards... Colin :)

Guys

I think my post may of come across as a bit harsh (looking back at it).

It wasn't intended that way, i will need a wet system probably in the not too distant (can't suck up bodily fluids with my EnviroDri).

Although the wet v dry debate will rage on for as long as there are CC's really it's best to have the both of them, then let the customer choose or to use them as the situation dictates.

It wasn't harsh at all Martin, I never set out to intentionally peeve people off and I felt that you deserved an explanation.
