hi, just made a 30 foot carbon fish pole,
ron thompsoms muscle zone 11m carbon pole from trev's tackle on special £65+£5 delivery.
big thankyou to mike porteous and tosh for all their info on this.
I'm not great at diy but 15 mins and job done.
tipthis is probably realised my most but just in case.
i couldn't get a bentley broom locally for screw fitting, to fit brush and crank joint to pole.
so: i had a spare domestic crank joint undid bolt in middle, put male thread end (longer bit)
in vice and sawed off joining circular bit.
you now have male thread piece thats perfectly fitted to another crank joint.
I didn't want to keep sawing down my top carbon piece of pole so i slid down over top till tight,
marked the excess which hung out through male thread i'd just made.
took off male thread(joiner)
sawed off excess carbon. then slid back on male thread joiner; pushed down top piece off pole till tight.
It's great no glue needed, just a bit of black tape to make tidy
result 30 foot featherlight pole
I will need to get in touch with alex gardiner re:superlight brush as my favourite vikan hi-low soft bristle brush makes too much bend in pole for my liking.
This pole will only be used for handfull jobs as will take longer to use, but a vast improvent on my 30 ft streamline orange pole these are crap and full to bits in 6 month's; this one has only survived so long cos not used that much.
Alex gardiner: i like the sound of your new hybrid 20 ft pole, i also like the sl-x know someone who has just bought one, went for cheap alternative at present as money's tight.
Keep up the great products

thanks all
Lee
