My primastar ( same as vivaro and traffic ). went in to the garage last week needed a new clutch and slave cylinder, a new gear selector cable and a wishbone for the suspension. Cost £1043. Only done 57000 miles on an 03 plate. P***ed off. On the other hand it has absolutly no signs of rust unlike most transits. I would not buy another one

Just bought a new Vivaro last month, and have to say very impressed with it, drives and handles great, and there are some great deals on news ones or ex demos.

like I said in an earlier post the AA man told us that the earlier Vivaros were prone to gear box problems don,t know what year they got over the problem but mines a 56 and he said these were ok...so stick to this year or something newer if you can afford it and you won,t go too far wrong....Povey

I did read that it was around the 55 plate that this problem was resolved.  The person who wrote it is a W/C who was a motor dealer so hopefully the info is reliable.  I have an 03 that needed a new gearbox at lowish mileage.

Who said they have resolved the gearbox problem because that`s rubbish,i know someone with 2 vivaros and he has had gearboxes go on both vans at almost the same mileage about 35-40000 but he gets them on lease and loves them to drive so he keeps getting them.He now gets the 2.5 semi auto 1`s,he says they drive better and the gearbox has given him no trouble.

lets be fair the vivaro/traffic/primastar is a fantastic looking van and i have driven one and can confirm its better than driving a car, but they are a pile of carp, real shame as i think its the smartest van out there

I think the same the look i like over all others but all i hear is bad things about them, another thing is that even if you buy a brand new 1 and you get problems when it`s in the garage you ain`t working.
