lines on oriental rug
« on: April 11, 2005, 06:42:52 pm »
Just collected an indain rug which was cleaned by one of the major network carpet cleaning companies. Client is not happy with the results, as lines are visible running along the weft of the rug. It would appear that now clean you can see the lines of knots. Client says that these were not there before the clean. Rug was re-cleaned by the company and the client was still not happy and refused to pay. That was until they sent a solictors letter demanding the £30.00 rug clean. Client has settled but is not happy about their rug.
This company does not master in the after sales service.

Does the rug have a very short pile?

Could be the dirt was hiding the lines until cleaning and as the pile is so short or even worn, now the lines are more visable.

You might like to look at a post on the Cleantalk site which was reference an Indian rug with lines. It was found to be part of the manufacture of the rug and not necessailly a defect. David who had the problem went to the shop where the original was purchased and another with the problem was there waiting to be sold. I am not sure how you post the links on here but if you go to the Cleantalk site and search for "Never seen this in 18 years" you should come up with the answer. There are pictures of the problem as well.

I can't understand them sending a solictors letter for just £30 ::) plus don't they have a £60 min charge, why did they clean this rug for just £30

what does she want you to do with this rug, remove the lines?

According to client she said they quote £25.00, then charged her £35.00 when she collected, so it was agreed to settle at £30. Clients did take and collect rug form the cc.
She would like to see the lines removed

A BIG THANK YOU to paul 2, I have just check out the cleantalk posting form April last year and that is actually the same problem as this rug has. The fault lies with the manufactures and not with the cc, although their service could do with improving. I will re-clean rug and towel dry to improve lines, and may even download the photo and posts to show the client. It may not cure her rug but at least it will put her mind at rest.

Once again Paul 2, thanks.

Because the old adage always  applies "It was all right untill to touched it." It all goes to prove how naive the origional CC were by not inspecting and detailing anything out of the ordanary, you would be called daft if you accepted the keys to a hire car and drove off without looking round it. Being forgetfull can be expencesive.
